So - is EQ2 worth picking up at this point?
that is, how far through it's expected life-cycle is it?

I'm considering it but i'm not too certain, if it's getting long in the tooth or whatever.

I played eq1 for over 6 years before I quit.

I transfered over to eq2 when it first started. I personally felt that EQ2 was more designed for people who didn't want much of a learning curve.

Everything seems controlled in this game. In EQ1 you could pretty well do what ever you wanted. In EQ2 I always felt like some one was holding hand so to speak.

I had a 30sk troll, that I left in the Dust to ROTT. heh

Great graphics, excellent quests, but boring combat, and redundant play machanics. Press this button, then that button. *BORING*. heh

In EQ1 you actually had to have skill, know what spells to use, understand what they did. Combat  was alot more complex also.
