Title: Anyone Zboard?
Post by: Fox on April 10, 2007, 03:10:15 PM
Does anyone use a Zboard here? I was just debating on whether or not to get one but I wanted to know if they worked out pretty well for players. Just let me know and also does anyone use a USB controller to control and play BF?

if for some reason you get glitches with the beer try and patch/rewrite it with some liquor, i find that it always fixes the problem.

Don't waste your money on a Zboard. They don't do anything extra and the buttons don't have a good feel to them in my opinion. A good quality keyboard and the best mouse you can buy is the way to go. I use a Saitek Eclipse backlit keyboard, I like the responsiveness, and a logitech G5 mouse. I like haveing my 3D joystick for flying, but it's not necessary.

There are other neat little mini keyboards out there for the left hand that you can use. I've tried many of them and discovered that nothing really gives you an advantage over the plain old wasd.

F that. I use a mitsumi ps/2 keyboard and a mitsumi serial mouse.

Of course I'm kidding. But seriously, a joystick AND a nostromo....your too hardcore for me.

I can't wait until the 12 blade is out.

Fox-  I love my Zboard although it took a little getting used to.  Easy to clean the crumbs out of and has big, labled keys.  I had the Belkin Nostro for a bit but I couldn't remember what I had set the keys for.  My mouse is a Logitech MX518.  great mouse with no batteries.

Thanks Zuler...that razor looks like it could shave your face off...Not sure the twelve blades would be worth it. Lol...

Stalk,

Care to explain how you use that button hardware thing?  I assume your thumb is for movement.  What's that button for above where your thumb goes?  How long does it take to adjust?

I just use WASD.  Sometimes I think I get splatted because or it.  Or maybe I just die alot.

I just die alot, I don't think ANY hardware will help ME much...

Lol, I'm with him, I can't stay alive for a while, but I'm almost certain that's because I freak out when I see an opposing team. I start shooting wildly and my accuracy is terrible. It also doesn't help when my vid card is only a measly 128mb.

Its not about your hardware, its about your Frames Per Second, Reaction Time, and Accuracy.  These are the 3 basic key skills for ANY fps game.  Then follows, knowledge of game mechanics, footwork, strafing, grenades...stuff you shouldn't worry about till you can aim and shoot.

The best thing you can do in this game is to make sure you have a frames per second of 50+ constantly, and doesn't dip below 20.  And improve your net code, theres a post in the forums here, it REALLY makes a difference, you may notice how the game is a little laggy when you fire, it takes that out and makes the game movements feel like a snap, instead of a delayed reaction.

If you feel that you're not aiming where you want to, check your mouse pad, or get a new mouse (1600dpi or greater).  Once again i've got to recommend the glass mousepad with better mousefeet on your mouse.  You no longer 'move' your mouse, your mouse just glides over the surface exactly the way your hand moves.  Amazing for accuracy, my scores went up after I got the mousepad, I noticed a huge difference with ease of aiming.

Extra hardware is great, but stalk's hardware won't stop him from being shot and killed by someone with just a keyboard and a mouse (me).  I can't say the same for flying though.

I may have to pick up one of those gamepads though, it seems pretty awesome.  I had a friend with one, but I never used it enough to get the feel of it down.

I <3 Moff

Logi G5 + Glass Mousepad = Pure ownage.

I have only been playing 2142 for 1.5 months....if that. I doubt most people would believe that from my performance.

Moff hit the nail on the head. If you can't move/aim fluidly...your not going to be able to handle the more advanced things either.
