Title: Apples's Safari 3 (Internet Browser) Public Beta Post by: rip|MightyMax on June 12, 2007, 10:07:00 AM Yet another browser enters the fray.... Do we really need another?
Apple has released a Public Beta of their free Safari 3 browser for Windows. Apple claims that Safari is up to 2 times faster than Internet Explorer, and is much easier to use?? ( Who tested it? :D ) If you would like to give it a go: http://www.apple.com/safari/ Title: Apples's Safari 3 (Internet Browser) Public Beta Post by: rip|buzinator on June 12, 2007, 11:13:01 AM Short answer, No, we don't need another :)
but it can't hurt, what the hell. things safari lacks, vs firefox, out of the box: - can't set multiple tabs for homepage. - can't restore sessions/unclose tabs. - can't display tabs all the time, even if there is only 1 tab. - can't check feeds on your bookmark bar via a dropdown (like you would for a folder placed into the bookmark bar), feed bookmarks show as a regular button. those are enough for me to stop using safari within 15mins of installing it. might be worth it once a decent plugin community gets going. additional things needed for me to make the switch: -ftp client -gmail file access -ie-tab functionality -noscript functionality Title: Apples's Safari 3 (Internet Browser) Public Beta Post by: rip|MightyMax on June 23, 2007, 06:33:57 AM If you happened to like it ...
Version 3.02 has been released, but only security and stability fixes. No new features... http://www.apple.com/safari/ |
