Title: KAV'S Soccer Corner (2008 Spring Season) Post by: rip|mrkavanagh on February 11, 2008, 10:48:46 AM I would like to announce that my soccer Coach debut went with out a hitch. We won 11-5! During the 4th quarter I held my team back and made them pass more so we wouldn't have a repeat of last season where we were accused of running up the score.
This season I have taken over as full-time coach since our previous coach did not return. I only have 2 players that returned from the fall, one of them being a 8 year old that plays 10 year old select soccer. Of course I have him playing "Striker". My son also has returned and since we do not play a full time goaley I have him playing "Sweeper". He has improve 3 fold since playing in the winter indoor league. I was able to get my son's best friend on our team. He is 4' tall and weighs in at a whopping 71lbs. He can run like the wind, has no fear, and if he and another player kick the ball at the same time, its the other player that goes down. lol The 3 other kids I was given are 1st time soccer players. One of them has picked it up real fast and made it onto the starting roster. The second new comer is picking it up and the third has no idea whats going on and forgets what you told him after 5 minutes. Stay Tuned for more info as the season progresses. There is already buz going around between the coaches that I have the strongest team. First game 6-5 and the second 7-6. Funny thing is that I have been controlling the scoring. Both games we were up by 4-0 by the end of the first quarter. I would pull my strong guys back and play my weaker players up front.

In our age group all teams play 3 games and everyone gets participation medals.:evil: There is a tourney coming up at the end of season that they actually crown a winner.
