Title: Features missing from GRID
Post by: rip|buzinator on June 24, 2008, 01:01:31 PM
making a list for my own benefit, when i feel it's pretty well done, I'll post it to Codemasters.

Stuff that Toca3 had but is now gone:

- Opponent proximity arrow.
- Virtual mirror.
- Friends / invitations.
- Flags.
- Anti-cheat / punishment.
- Qualifying.
- Server naming.
- Pitstops / refuelling / repairs (in a game emphasizing ENDURANCE racing!?!?).
- Chat messages scrolling by when in menus.
- Changing server parameters on the fly.
- Bots in multiplayer.
- Ovals.
- Custom track selections (although unacceptably limited, way more than GRID allows).
- Adjustable severity of damage.
- Adjustable severity of Gravel Traps.
- LOTS of permanent road courses from MANY nations.

Stuff that Toca3 lacked and GRID still doesn't have:
- Dedicated Server.
- Full logging of lap by lap, car by car data.
- Permabans by player ID and IP.
- When collisions are off, other cars should be translucent when you're inside them, so you can still see the road ahead.

Since patch 1.1 came out ... does anyone else get a crash/error when they exit the game?

it doesn't really matter since i'm exiting the game anyway, but it's pretty lame/unpolished of CM to release stuff untested like that.

Did some reading around the codemasters website ... they actually are aware of it and have a fix, but it's going to be in the next patch, they aren't able to come up with a workaround for the meantime.

oh well, whatever. so long as they fix the server browser prob.
