Title: Request for Logitech MOMO Wheel Settings Post by: rip|buzinator on August 31, 2008, 10:57:02 AM ok, your mileage may vary ... but here are my settings ...
In Windows Control Panel / Game Controllers ... (http://www.teamrip.net/files/buz/buz_momo_cp.jpg) Then I launch GRID itself via the Logitech profiler software ... without specifying any settings in the profile other than the grid.exe location ... (http://www.teamrip.net/files/buz/buz_momo_grid_controls1.jpg) (http://www.teamrip.net/files/buz/buz_momo_grid_controls2.jpg) (fyi - I use button 5 for Ventrilo, so i can't afford to map it to anything in-game) (http://www.teamrip.net/files/buz/buz_momo_grid_ffb.jpg) (keep in mind my wheel may behave different to yours, but Force Weight and Effect Strength seemed to just vary the detail level of the effects, so I maxed them out for full detail and then just tweaked the Force Strength to where I was comfortable with how much effort I have to exert vs how much fine control i retained) (http://www.teamrip.net/files/buz/buz_momo_grid_adv.jpg) (Steering Saturation and Linearity are probably the biggest concerns, that will have the most effect on whether the game feels right to you personally, very subjective, take the time to really experiment with these) Title: Request for Logitech MOMO Wheel Settings Post by: rip|ChITty on August 31, 2008, 06:45:01 PM Thanks a ton! Since I've never used a wheel before I didn't have much of a clue as to what did what. Of course I really don't now either, but at least I'm not starting from scratch.
What does the linearity do? I read the blurb when adjusting it, but it didn't really click with me. Title: Request for Logitech MOMO Wheel Settings Post by: rip|buzinator on August 31, 2008, 07:14:47 PM um, it's like a steering rack that lets you vary the tooth-pitch ... you can set it to be sensitive in the middle and weaker near lock, or slow in the middle (good for me, i tend to over-react with my steering) and faster the closer to lock you get.
it is hard to describe, i recommend adjusting one setting at a time, go full one way and then full the other way to identify what it does and then gradually work it back to where you are comfortable. Holy shit. I fucking love racing with the wheel! I'm not significantly faster at this point, but wow what a totally different experience. Title: Request for Logitech MOMO Wheel Settings Post by: rip|buzinator on September 02, 2008, 06:37:56 AM :D
sweeeet - it stands to reason of course, you use a wheel in a real car...so you should use a wheel in a simulated car. As for the lap times, it'll come, working through traffic/avoiding accidents ought to become a little easier too i think...just need time to develop the right touch now. Title: Request for Logitech MOMO Wheel Settings Post by: rip|ChITty on September 02, 2008, 07:34:27 AM Yeah, the force feedback is just too cool. I always figured it was a gimmick of sorts, but to actually feel the brick surface in milan and the curbs really wowed me (yah yah I know i'm like 3 years behind you all).
I will say that the gamepad is easier than the wheel in one respect being that you can't over steer in corners like with the wheel. I have raced against ai traffic and you're right, it is easier to maneuver in traffic. As far as lap times, I re-raced Istanbul in the F3 and set a new personal best, so that's built up some confidence that I'll be competitive on Friday. I'm playing with it and having a rough time getting game feel right. In the meantime I'm experimenting with it. If I come up with some settings that work for me I'll share as well.
