Some shots from my little trip to see the Rolex Grand Am / Daytona Prototype event at the New Jersey Motorsports Park. The place is brand spankin' new and they definitely have long way to go before anyone can really accuse them of having their shit together. We left early because of the sun, the dust, the lack of bathrooms and food options ... but - the access was really amazing. The total freedom to move about the paddock & garage area was unprecedented, for me at least. I could have wandered right out into the pit lane if i'd been in the mood to die or get kicked out. I could totally look over the shoulders of the engineers on the pitwall and check out their telemetry (although they do give you that look when you seem to be paying a little too much attention ;) ) ... there was a constant danger of being run down by race cars cruising from the garage to get refuelled or tech inspected...with so much noise you had to being looking around yourself constantly, it was a crazy scene...so much activity. It's a MUST SEE if you haven't already (which I'm guessing you haven't if you're watching it on BBC America). You could certainly wait to see it on BBC A, but we won't be able to talk about it for another year until it finally is shown on there.
