Title: Track of the Week - Round 1 - Curitiba
Post by: rip|ChITty on May 25, 2009, 12:07:49 AM
I propose that we do a fast lap comparison on one track per week.  The nice thing about this is that we don't all have to be on at the same time and GTRe records the laps so we can easily share the replays (unlike GRID).  This will also provide an opportunity to check out some many many tracks in the game as well has maybe finding some good car setups for them.

Running alot hot on the left rear wheel after the 2 5's and the 4 at the end of the track, and during the real race we ran, was about an 8th below all the other wheels. Is there anything I can do other than drive less aggressive, to ease that wear?

@ Kalian

the first and easiest thing to try is adjusting your driving style.

In the videos above, pause yours at 58sec and then Chitty's and mine at 59sec and compare. See where the car is in relation to the normal racing line?

For some reason when you exit the previous corner (~55sec) you depart from the racing line, cutting sharply across the track for a very early, tight entry. Pulling so hard to the right (and maintaining that through the corner as you accelerate out) can't be good for the left side tires.

EDIT: Having replays to refer back to is so cool. Below I have superimposed Kal's car at the same corner as Chitty's ... the difference in lines is rather clear...

@ Kav ... there is, but ours (taken from Formula 1) permits the outer wheels to ride the rumblestrips ... just can't go deeper than that onto the solid blue (in this case).

That being said, my rear tires are all kinds of pretty colors after a few laps as well.

I guess the next step is to try softening the springs slighty.

Or try moving brake bias forward and make sure you're not spinning the wheels when accelerating.

Now is probably a good time to mention the $5,000 fine for speeding in the pit lane.

I used the simbin f3000 setup with 4 laps of fuel. The hotlap was the third one i ran out on the 4th

it can be calculated, distance from your garage to the end of the pitlane divided by the time it took you to cover that distance.

ok i am a little upset that the game doesnt save your setup in the garage. I jump in the game last night started a single player event at our TOW and went to the garage and it had the default setup active.

So as far as I can tell I used one of these setups for my fast lap that I whooped ya'lls ass with:

F3000 by Simbin
1;07-278
F3000 SBART Curibita 1054
B1 (buz is this your setup for BRNO?)

Post by: rip|buzinator on May 29, 2009, 06:52:18 AM
The setups you see will be filtered by the car & track you are on at the time...so no, not my brno one.

and SAVE YOUR WORK ... like any program. :)
