Title: Still Undecided on HTPC or other device.
Post by: rip|Jackal on June 14, 2009, 02:01:16 PM
Popcorn hour - downside is .iso support is buggy if there at all; no dvd rom if needed; have to wait for company to fix bugs.

PS3 - I don't want to stream movies from another device, device must be able to store all my media on the device itself.

HTPC - Unsure of playing media through HDMI and proper video resolution or configs that need to be setup.

WDHT - downside is no dvd rom and need external hdd.

As you can probably guess, I'm still leaning toward a HTPC.

Yeah count the ps3 out if you don't want stream.  It's fairly ok with media support natively, but not to the level you were talking about.  The transcoding done by tversity on the stream puts it over the top.

I'd vote htpc based on that condition.
