Title: Track of the Week - Round 4 - Monza Post by: rip|buzinator on June 16, 2009, 07:38:47 AM The Autodromo Nazionale di Monza (pronounced "mmmmmmmmONNNzzaaahhhh") has been a home for Grand Prix racing since 1922. A classic track from the golden days of motorsport. As with other such historic circuits, Spa & Monaco come to mind, the corners are still referred to in the native tongue of the host nation.

Title: Re: Track of the Week - Round 4 - Monza Post by: rip|mrkavanagh on June 19, 2009, 06:31:47 AM why is your shit smoking?
Care to share your setup? Title: Re: Track of the Week - Round 4 - Monza Post by: rip|buzinator on June 19, 2009, 06:47:22 AM The smoke is either from the front grinding on the road or his brake ducts & radiators are closed off causing overheating.
the fact that it happens on the straights suggests it's the car griding on the road due to soft spring, low height and high speed. Add some packers man! Title: Re: Track of the Week - Round 4 - Monza Post by: rip|ChITty on June 19, 2009, 07:11:17 AM Something is definitely overheating. That has happened to me before when playing witht he ducts. If it was grinding there'd be a ton of sparks no?
Title: Re: Track of the Week - Round 4 - Monza Post by: rip|buzinator on June 19, 2009, 07:27:49 AM Looking at it again, yeah, it's from the Radiators being closed up. Happens when the engine is working hard in the straights and exiting Parabolica.
I guess it's steam? radiator venting? Title: Re: Track of the Week - Round 4 - Monza Post by: rip|Bretware on June 19, 2009, 04:03:51 PM The smoke is my new rocket assist patch, I highly recommend it.
Really it's a one and done setup, so we get alittle boil over near the end of the run, very similar to what you see in nascar qualifying when the front is taped up. Here's the setup, wheel settings on a g25 or momo should be, brake 66%, gas 2% and steering 2%, to run in the low 38's I would expect that you will need to turn the TC off (it robs power) http://rapidshare.com/files/246435661/Monza_one_and_done.svm.html (http://rapidshare.com/files/246435661/Monza_one_and_done.svm.html) Monza is a momentum track, so it is important not to over drive the entrys and get back to the power as soon as possible. Good Luck Title: Re: Track of the Week - Round 4 - Monza Post by: rip|mrkavanagh on June 19, 2009, 10:30:45 PM thanks I will give it a try this weekend
Title: Re: Track of the Week - Round 4 - Monza Post by: rip|Bretware on June 21, 2009, 02:56:23 PM EDIT: setup is fine
My main hard drive died tuesday(3 months old), I reloaded vista 32bit on a drive and got everything running, thats when I did my lap. I have since loaded vista 64bit and just copied steam and the game from the first hard drive. When I was playing last night in 64bit, the rear spring was 110 and the front was 80, not right. But then when I went to race some mini's, the game was giving me wing setting for a f3000, strange. So it may just be from a bad install. The springs should be something like F 80 R 75, When my drive went down I lost all my setups, I can't seem to find where I had them backed up, I did the Monza setup from memory and a really old setup, only two shake down runs, tire pressures and fast B/R on the shocks need to be dialed in a little better. Title: Re: Track of the Week - Round 4 - Monza Post by: rip|Bretware on June 21, 2009, 07:30:20 PM The springs are set to F95 R110 in the upload, thats right for monza

Title: Re: Track of the Week - Round 4 - Monza Post by: rip|ChITty on June 22, 2009, 09:45:41 AM i am going to run another lap tonight before the race. Given your last two race performances, I'd focus on the track if I were you ;) Seriously though, you've got a point in the bank, why bother? If you're going for the 2 points, you're gonna have to dig into the "Build a car by hand" car setup menu and strip off body work for weight reduction to get anywhere near his time. Come on, his f'n car was practically on fire after the end of his lap... Title: Re: Track of the Week - Round 4 - Monza Post by: rip|buzinator on June 22, 2009, 09:48:52 AM Kav can do what he wants of course, but i agree ... there are way more points at stake in the race than this track.
of course it'd still be interesting to see if anybody else can get into the 30's.
