Post by: rip|Lumacor on August 31, 2009, 09:33:27 AM
I know the G27 is on it's way. But thanks goes to Buz for pushing me over the edge to get a new wheel... a G25. Should have it in the next few days... Am too excited :D

I accept no responsibility for sudden decreases in bank balances!
(or lap times)

I'll be interested to see what you make of the G25 ... I've heard it has much harder pedal springs than most wheels, wondering if that makes the feel better...or just harder.

Wow.  That is quite the wheel (and price tag).  FYI, Logitech says...  "You're not playing games anymore, you're racing"

I like the g27 better

pretty much the same as the g25 but with a few more features

True that, with the G27, but couldn't really justify the increase in cost for that for just a few more features. Plus I found the G25 on offer which just lasts until midnight GMT today.

I miss the 6 buttons on the wheel my old momo had, I see the g27 is back to six buttons, I got to have one.

Buz, I made the money for the wheel back this evening!!

I know gambling is bad! But hey! I'm not bad at poker it seems! :D

Wheel arrived yesterday, but didn't really get much time to play before I had to go out.

Quite impressed so far, but I think for racing I might disable the FFB, or at the very least turn it down a bit. It's a monster when all FFB settings are set at 100%+, but when turned down lap times are good :)

Those settings are quite fun! Still end up contending with the wheel a lot though! :O Might end up not having much FFB at all for when we race online (probably will set it to about 25%). Otherwise I'll end up having a lot of stuff shaking off my desk and onto me like some sort of track debris.

I've managed to have about an hour's worth of practice with it now and am bringing the lap times nearer each time to where I am with the 360 pad. Then when I get on target there I will switch my attention to manual gear selections (at the moment it's faster in some sectors, but I'm more liable to spin off when shifting too quickly!)

It's by far the fastest way when you get used to manual. It's been a while though since I last used manual gears or a wheel for that matter, so it's a bit of a learning curve once again. I used to have an old Thrustmaster Enzo FFB wheel, which I loved until my father had a go and broke it because he turned it hard beyond it's locking degree and it snapped. Fortunately would not be an issue with the G25! :)

Methinks I will try to get the feel for the wheel first then go fully manual. I'm already changing shifts over the auto-changing now that I can, so no doubt that setups will need adjustment too! :S
