Weather: Dry (Reserving the right to choose by consensus)

Starts: Standing

Setups: Open, sharing of setups very strongly encouraged

Fuel: Normal (x1)

Tire wear: x3

Damage: 50%

AI Pace: moderate increase over Season 5, Lumacor to calculate

Points:
 P1 thru P12 ... 15, 13, 11, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
...Bonus 1pt for Fastest lap of the race.
...Final standings will take into account each driver's 9 best finishes, ie, each player will get to drop their worst result from the 10 races.

---------------

Ballast Loads

In the interest of keeping the championship closely contested, a Ballast Loading system is in place:

Drivers will begin the season with the same load as at the end of the previous season. New drivers will receive ballast that is equal to the average amount amongst those carrying ballast (those with none will be excluded from the average calculation).

Race Winner ... will have 30kg (66lb) weight added to their car at the next event.
2nd place will have 25kg (55lb) added.
3rd place will have 15kg (33lb) added.
4th place will have 10kg (22lb) added.

5th through 10th will remain the same weight.

11th through Last will have 10kg (22lb) removed, if carrying ballast.

---------------

Hot Lap Bonus (formerly TotW)

To encourage setup development and basic track familiarity, in the week leading up to each round a hotlapping contest will take place using that week's track. A server will be in place for this purpose, running a continuous qualifying session to ensure all laps are set under identical conditions. Only laps from this server will be considered for entry into the Hot Lap contest. Every driver that posts a time on the server will receive a championship point. The driver setting the fastest time of the week will receive an additional bonus point.

Hot Lap deadline is Midnight (Eastern US) Monday, before race day. Laps set on the day of the race will not count towards the Hot Lap Bonus.

---------------

Classification if unable to complete race

If a driver is unable to complete a race they have begun, due to domestic emergency, equipment failure ... they may exit the race at any time and will be classified as having finished ahead of the nearest AI car behind them at the moment of retirement, or behind the last human competitor if that AI car finishes ahead of said last-human-competitor. Full race points will be awarded in such cases. Retirements due to being annoyed/bored/tired are not covered under this rule.

---------------

Conduct

This boils down to the basic principle of "Don't be a douchebag".

Riding rumblestrips or dropping wheels off is ok, but please do not take all 4 wheels beyond the rumblestrip (generally, the part painted with alternating colors). Where there are no rumble strips, please avoid crossing the lines marking the outer limits of the track. Where there are no such lines, keep it "on the island".

If a driver is ever in ANY doubt about a specific corner or track area, they should ask for an opinion ASAP - before the event or during practice - so it can be discussed and everyone will be able to proceed with the same understanding.

It is accepted that occasionally accidents happen, through late braking or worn tires or AI acting weird etc. If a minor, accidental "Four-Off" occurs, it is recommended to lift or back off the pace for 2 seconds to ensure no undue advantage was gained.

If an entire corner is completely cut (eg, straight-lining a chicane) the driver must bring the car to a complete stop (off the racing line) before proceeding. Otherwise they are opening themselves up to potential protests and resultant penalties.

Prolonged or deliberate contact with the walls in order to improve laps times or gain tactical advantage is prohibited.

---------------

Quote from: buzinator
Pit Lane procedures currently under review ... published rules suspended until further notice.

The Pit Lane:

Entrance and Transit - Speed limits apply and WILL BE ENFORCED. All drivers are required to perform a dry-run pit stop during practice. It is the driver's responsibility to know where the pitlane speed limit begins.

The Pit Stop:
 - Refuelling is optional
 - A minimum of two (2) tires must be changed
 - Manually restarting the engine after refuelling is BANNED. The engine must be allowed to start automatically by the game at the end of the pit stop.

Exit - Drivers are strongly urged to take the time to study the pit exit and figure out how it is intended to be used. Aggressive pit exit behavior opens a driver to potential protests and penalties. It is in a driver's own best interest to behave politely and predictably.

Buz will be reviewing ALL pit activity via race replays.

---------------

Conflict Resolution

If you know you did something wrong, there are two ways to avoid a penalty:
 - Offer to slow down to let any victim car past (regardless of how many others may also pass you in that time).
 - Immediately bring the car to a stop, off the racing line, and then proceed. This applies to minor, accidental pit speeding and corner cutting.

Outside of this, alleged incidents should be reported post-race in that race's forum thread. Drivers lodging a protest should provide Lap & Corner information so others may review replays, screenshots and video evidence are also welcome. Discussion will ensue and a vote will be taken.

...Midnight (Eastern US) Thursday (>24hrs after race) - Deadline for submitting protests.

...Midnight (Eastern US) Friday (24hrs after protest deadline) - Deadline for penalties to be decided.

Standard post-race penalty will be 20sec added to total race time for the offending car, per infraction.

---------------

Offline Competitors (unofficial, experimental)

In the event of someone wishing to compete but being unable to attend a live event, we will test a system where a competitor can submit the results of an offline race. The offline racer should start from the back of their grid and the total race time will be compared to the live racers' total race times. They will then be provisionally awarded half the points they would have scored had they completed the live race with that total race time (rounding down when the points are non-integer values).

Full race-replays must be submitted for review within 48 hours of the live race, either emailed to Buz or attached to a forum post.

A total of two (2) offline races will accepted per season. Offline races will not be eligible for the 1-race-drop at the end of season.

I will get Cawdor's skin to you by Sunday night if not sooner. I am on the fence if I will be participating this season.

He has a Brno winner's title to defend, won the most races overall in GP5 plus he grows all kinds of chilli peppers at home, i doubt the heat is the problem.

I can only guess he's got something going on in real life or something. Unfortunately shit does happen on occasion.

I hope whatever the situation is, that it improves and he's able to join us. It won't be a proper Brno without him...

I just don't like all the changes made. I know that they were voted on. This along with the animosity its has just lost its fun factor.

I'm sorry to hear that you feel that way.  I can appreciate that the changes might not suit everyone (weather? Not enough ovals? TotW?) and that no one should feel forced to play a game they don't enjoy.  However, I must say that I'm surprised because looking through the format posts, it appears you voted on the winning side of most of the format changes.   As you say, the changes were voted on, and everyone had their chance to say their peace, so there's really not much to be said about that.

I must say that the animosity comment throws me.  Hell, Bretware just sent a wheel over to Cawdor out of the kindness of his heart (although I wouldn't be surprised to see a fixed race at some point in the season :P), people have spent time testing other peoples ideas, people have spent time doing other people's skins (thanks again kav and buz :)), etc.  Not too hostile of a community if you ask me.

Perhaps you didn't care for the rule/format discussion/debates, but I recall you were actually asking for more discussion in the forums at one point in time.  There was some back and forth of opinions, but it's not like there was any venom.

The only real unpleasantness I'm aware of was our xfire discussion which wasn't much fun on this side of the discussion.  I felt you were actively trying to push my buttons (I'm not active enough in the forums, the videos are crap and pointless, buz "puts up" with me because of the videos, the race analysis reports are pointless, etc.) so I needless to say, I was on the defensive.  I can't say that I'm sorry for my retorts as I believe I accurately portrayed my opinions, but the way they were communicated were not up to my normal gentlemanly standards.  That being said, that was some time ago and I had the impression that things had moved on.

So, again, I'm sorry you feel the way you do and wish that you would reconsider, but if not I hope you'll consider still be involved in our random/fun events.

FYI  - I'll be putting out a car pack update tonight. Will include a new skin for Ezeon and an update to Cawdor's that resolves the dark-horse thing he had going on ;)

Sorry Kav, I wasn't able to get you a screenshot as I dunno how to take one besides Print Screen and then I couldn't find it on the computer. Basically the car looks fine up close, but from a distance the entire car looks black.
