i guess i need to sign up and stuff? i duno what track you guys are running and its coming up as 'unknown'

The F1 server currently has a mixture of stock tracks from different game packages (Race07 vs Race On). I've adjusted the list so it only has Race07 tracks, see if it looks right to now...

So has anyone given this a try yet? Anyone interested in running a couple of friendly races between now and the start of the next GP race?

Or better yet anyone interested in running a friendly series using these cars and following the f1 2010 schedule? Could be something simple.

I've given them a shot, I know others have too.

Even with aids on full they're definitely a handful. Though I haven't really gotten into setting one up yet.

Interesting idea about following the real calendar. I might check if there's a version of Bahrain around and load it up.

So they are tougher to handle than the f1's we were playing around with previously?

I think following the season would be cool for when you watch the race you would be like "yeah thats a tough corner" or "its easy to over take there". It would just put a interesting spin on watching the races.

I found them to be tougher, yes. More akin to the 2005 mod. Quite touchy on the throttle at low speeds...so much power and so fast revving. But they are drivable.

I agree that doing a few laps could add to the experience when watching the real thing. Just a pity the Bahrain layout is the traditional one (on the server). The real track has a few extra corners in the middle sector this year, so it's not 100%, but probably 85% +

Unfortunately I still can't get mine to work online.  Because I would be DOWN with some F1 races.

It works great offline, really a handfull! 

I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice......still listing cars as "UNKNOWN" on servers.

Has anyone heard of any specific conflicts with others patches?

do you have any mods installed? uninstalling the game does not uninstall mods. Your problem is you have a mod installed that is using the same carIDs as the MMG mod. Just remove the folders of the mods you have installed to temporary directory and try running it with just the mmg mod in the mod directory.

Yeah, I had only been uninstalling and reinstalling the mod.

 I have a few mods installed, (DTM, Mustang SE, FIA GT, Mobile One Supercup, Porsche 935 DP's).....and so on.

That sounds like it will get goin the right direction, I will give that a try.

no problem. Bus and I worked forever trying to get the f1 2009 mod to work online and realized the cars were using carID numbers already in use

I'm down for club races with this mod, lets follow the calender best we can, although visiting some old F1 tracks with new cars might be fun. For instance Charade just came out for Race a couple months ago. Also Rouen Les Essarts is a great street track for open wheelers.

I will have to see if I can make Friday work.  Should know tonight.  Weekends are tough for me to pin down.  If not, I can just get in next time.

Since we all are new to this mod and these cars lets do a couple of short heat races with no pits. Try it with AI and without AI. And try it in the rain and dry conditions.

i am having trouble getting GTR-e to run, it keeps giving me a steam error. re-installing now

fwiw - I've been running the steam beta, with the new interface. (seems to have fixed the alt-tab issue for me) Maybe that could help. just a thought if nothing else seems to work.

For curiosity's sake I've set the server up as F1 vs F3000, folks can take their pick as they join.

I saw a post on RaceDepartment suggesting 5 clicks rear wing to 1 click front supposedly produces decent balance.

I think we should do a 15 min qualifying and 5 lap race with no AI (depends on how many humans show up) to start out.

I didn't seem to have a problem running F1's on bahrain last night. I agree that you can spin easily, but its not too bad for me.

Even those these are different cars, I did spend a lot of time racing the other F1 mods.

I do have a question though. Out of the several different types of tyres you have to choose from on these vehicles, which ones are the stickiest?

Technically, none are slick. In 2007 they ran grooved tires.

But I would expect the super soft to be the grippiest I think, the trade off being that they don't last long.
