If any ties in scores exist after the 1 race drop process, the tie break will be will be based on the sum of each driver's season total number of Laps Lead (at tracks with lap times greater than 1 minute) + Fastest Lap points + Hot Lap Points. --------------- Ballast Loads At each round the following ballast will be applied: 75kg ... Series Leader 45kg ... 2nd in series 25kg ... 3rd in series 10kg ... 4th in series At the 1st race of the season, the finishing order of the previous season will be used to assign the loads. When there is a tie in championship points, order of ballast allocation will be based on the sum of each driver's season total number of Laps Lead (at tracks with lap times greater than 1 minute) + Fastest Lap points + Hot Lap Points. --------------- Hot Lap Bonus To encourage setup development and basic track familiarity, in the week leading up to each round a Hot Lap contest will take place using that week's track. A server will be in place for this purpose, running a continuous qualifying session to ensure all laps are set under identical conditions. Only laps from this server will be considered for entry into the Hot Lap contest. - Every driver that posts a time on the server will receive a championship point - The driver setting the fastest time of the week will receive an additional bonus point, except... - If the championship leader sets the fastest lap of the week, they will not receive the additional bonus point, but will have prevented others from obtaining it. - 5 is the maximum number of Hottest Lap bonus points any one driver can obtain. Hot Lap deadline is Midnight (Eastern US) Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, before race day. Laps set on the day of the race will not count towards the Hot Lap Bonus. --------------- Classification if unable to complete race If a driver is unable to complete a race they have begun, due to domestic emergency, equipment failure or freakish track/AI glitch ... they may exit the race at any time and will be classified as having finished ahead of the nearest AI car behind them at the moment of retirement, or behind the last human competitor if that AI car finishes ahead of said last-human-competitor. Full race points will be awarded in such cases. Retirements due to being annoyed/bored/tired are not covered under this rule. --------------- Conduct This boils down to the basic principle of "Don't be a douchebag". Riding rumblestrips or dropping wheels off is ok, but please do not take all 4 wheels beyond the rumblestrip (generally, the part painted with alternating colors). Where there are no rumble strips, please avoid crossing the lines marking the outer limits of the track. Where there are no such lines, use common sense and keep it "on the island". If a driver is ever in ANY doubt about a specific corner or track area, they should ask for an opinion ASAP - before the event or during practice - so it can be discussed and everyone can then proceed with the same understanding. It is accepted that occasionally accidents happen, through late braking or worn tires or AI acting weird etc. If a minor, accidental "Four-Off" occurs, it is recommended to lift or back off the pace for 2 seconds to ensure no undue advantage was gained. If an entire corner is completely cut (eg, straight-lining a chicane) the driver is advised to bring the car to a complete stop (off the racing line) before proceeding. Otherwise they are leaving themselves open to post-race protests and resultant penalties. Prolonged or deliberate contact with the walls in order to improve laps times or gain tactical advantage is prohibited. --------------- The Pit Lane: Entrance and Transit - Drivers may enter at racing speed, observing the usual rules regarding the line taken, please keep it sane. The pit speed limiter is to be allowed to operate automatically, let it come on and go off by itself ... DON'T TOUCH IT! The Pit Stop: - Refuelling is optional - Manually restarting the engine after refuelling is BANNED. The engine must be allowed to restart automatically. Exit - Drivers are strongly urged to take the time to study the pit exit and figure out how it is intended to be used. Aggressive pit exit behavior opens a driver to potential protests and penalties. It is in a driver's own best interest to blend politely and predictably. Buz will be performing random spot checks of pit activity via race replays. --------------- Conflict Resolution If you know you did something wrong, there are two ways to avoid a penalty: - Offer to slow down to let any victim car past (regardless of how many others may also pass you in that time). - Immediately bring the car to a stop, off the racing line, and then proceed. This applies to minor, accidental pit speeding and corner cutting. Outside of this, alleged incidents should be reported post-race in that race's forum thread. Drivers lodging a protest should provide Lap & Corner information so others may review replays, screenshots and video evidence are also welcome. Discussion will ensue and a vote will be taken. ...Midnight (Eastern US) Thursday (>24hrs after race) - Deadline for submitting protests. ...Midnight (Eastern US) Friday (24hrs after protest deadline) - Deadline for penalties to be decided. Standard post-race penalty will be 20sec added to total race time for the offending car, per infraction. Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Main Thread ... Info, Rules, Schedule Post by: rip|buzinator on March 15, 2010, 11:40:26 AM As with the formatting thread, I've made text green in areas where there are significant changes from last season.
The skin pack is just Season 6 stuff ... if anyone intends to use a new skin, shoot me a PM. Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Main Thread ... Info, Rules, Schedule Post by: rip|mrkavanagh on March 15, 2010, 01:17:45 PM so i got to buy raceon?
Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Main Thread ... Info, Rules, Schedule Post by: rip|buzinator on March 15, 2010, 01:38:48 PM For Road America, yes ... although you could possibly use that as your dropped-race. The 11 other races are non-RaceOn.
Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Main Thread ... Info, Rules, Schedule Post by: rip|mrkavanagh on March 16, 2010, 07:16:59 AM yeah thats probably what i will do, pass on road america
BTW did you know that the Nationwide series is racing at Road America this season? I wonder if Marcos will run it.... Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Main Thread ... Info, Rules, Schedule Post by: Ezeon on March 16, 2010, 10:05:30 AM Wow, i keep loosing wednesdays! I can't be there on the 14th. I will take it as my drop though.
Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Main Thread ... Info, Rules, Schedule Post by: rip|buzinator on March 16, 2010, 10:19:13 AM doh! But ok...tread lightly for the rest of the season then :)
Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Main Thread ... Info, Rules, Schedule Post by: rip|buzinator on March 19, 2010, 01:26:24 PM Yo All,
I know this is coming from left field a bit, but is there any chance Fridays or Saturdays could work for people? I just had to check because if we could accomodate that change from Wed, we might be able to get our conspicuously absent British cousin Lumacor back in the game. (speaking of which - Kalian, where are you? How's the outlook for April? Would a Fri or Sat help you also perhaps?) Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Main Thread ... Info, Rules, Schedule Post by: rip|mrkavanagh on March 19, 2010, 01:28:01 PM Saturday nights would work for me.
Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Main Thread ... Info, Rules, Schedule Post by: bpbriles on March 19, 2010, 03:48:56 PM Fridays and Saturdays would be a bit harder for me to commit to for the whole season. In the spring - fall I run a shifter kart and am gone quite often on weekend days and some entire weekends. Fri or Sat would be cool with me if its OK to miss more than my "Mulligan" race.
Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Main Thread ... Info, Rules, Schedule Post by: rip|Bretware on March 19, 2010, 04:52:25 PM Hmmm, so I have to decide between BP or Lumacor, lol. Can I see them go head to head first?
Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Main Thread ... Info, Rules, Schedule Post by: rip|ChITty on March 19, 2010, 09:38:16 PM Personally I think Wednesdays will continue to work best for me. It would be pretty amazingly awesomely kick ass if Luma could race with us on Wednesdays! :D
If not, which I 100% understand why that may not be possible, maybe the hot lap action? I'm sure we'd all be willing to share our hot lap setups with you if that would entice you at all. Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Main Thread ... Info, Rules, Schedule Post by: rip|buzinator on March 20, 2010, 11:51:23 AM Yh that's ok ... I just wanted to get a feel for whether it was something that could be achieved easily, not looking to rock the boat for a net gain of 0 additional guys.
Wednesdays are actually best for me also. Thx for taking time to consider the situation all. Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Main Thread ... Info, Rules, Schedule Post by: rip|Lumacor on April 07, 2010, 09:57:28 AM Hello Gentlemen,
Apologies for such a long time away. Various things past Christmas sadly culminated in my Virtual Life being put at the bottom of the pile of priorities (I'm sure you all understand), though I have tried to remain in touch with Buz on msn when I can. In spite of this, I have been dipping in and out of the boards keeping an eye on things. Also, hopefully with a bit of tweaking to the format, the rfactor league plans will be very much alive. I hope you are all doing well. From the season videos I can see I missed out on some decent action! Luke PS. Out of curiousity, when is the first race of your new season scheduled? Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Main Thread ... Info, Rules, Schedule Post by: rip|buzinator on April 07, 2010, 10:17:38 AM Hey man - Round 1 is April 14, though the GP Hot Lap server will be up later today.
Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Main Thread ... Info, Rules, Schedule Post by: rip|Lumacor on April 08, 2010, 01:39:15 AM Dare I say it... I might be able to race that evening...
Having said that, I feel I might be a tad rusty, 4 months away from the game :O Point me in the direction of all the things I might need in prep ;) - including setups... *ahem* Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Main Thread ... Info, Rules, Schedule Post by: rip|buzinator on April 12, 2010, 11:43:29 AM Track for Round 1 ... http://www.teamrip.net/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item50
Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Main Thread ... Info, Rules, Schedule Post by: rip|mrkavanagh on April 12, 2010, 01:00:28 PM so driving f3000's on this thing after driving f1's will be really weird
Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Main Thread ... Info, Rules, Schedule Post by: rip|buzinator on April 12, 2010, 01:01:39 PM Yep, it's definitely different.
