Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Round 1 - Albert Park Post by: rip|Lumacor on April 09, 2010, 03:43:10 AM Has anyone done any laps yet? I should be online this evening, and just curious about benchmarks :)
Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Round 1 - Albert Park Post by: bpbriles on April 09, 2010, 05:08:39 AM I ran about 15 laps early last night. I am running 1m44's -1m45's. With the AI @ 98% that is putting me right at the front. Not gonna pullaway by any means!! Hope this is helps. Glad to see you are joining us next week!!
Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Round 1 - Albert Park Post by: rip|buzinator on April 09, 2010, 06:37:52 AM I did some on the hot laps server, also tending to be in the 44's with race fuel.
I had a couple minor offs but got 12 complete laps on a full tank, ran dry on the 2nd last corner and coasted to the pit entrance on the 13th lap. Nice sig btw BP ;) Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Round 1 - Albert Park Post by: rip|ChITty on April 09, 2010, 08:06:33 AM Info for this track from last season. Race pace will be different due to less weight and different tire/fuel rules.

I tried to copy and paste off the forum, but it was to small to change to TC6 and not make it look way bad!!
My CPU skills are lacking. Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Round 1 - Albert Park Post by: rip|buzinator on April 09, 2010, 11:53:33 AM I'll try and get to the tc6 award gfx this weekend.

Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Round 1 - Albert Park Post by: rip|buzinator on April 13, 2010, 08:20:18 AM Don't forget to get a hot lap or two in the bank for your first point of the season.
Cutoff is midnight (eastern) tonight. Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Round 1 - Albert Park Post by: rip|Lumacor on April 14, 2010, 05:20:54 AM You'll be pleased to hear that after chopping around with the windows registry it now works...
However, I've not had much chance to do any runs at all yet, and won't until later today really. If it looks like I'm going to be massively off pace I will do my best not to get in anyones way! Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Round 1 - Albert Park Post by: rip|ChITty on April 14, 2010, 08:06:10 AM Excellent news on both items! ;) :D

Congrats Chitty on a well worked strategy! It's a shame it meant we didn't dice it up a bit... then again, I tend to have had lonesome wins in the past, so won't begrudge you that! :D It's all good, well done!! What it means though, is you can spend all of your time catching up on the rest of the exciting parts of the race! Something I think I'll do after I get some sleep now... 4am ughhh... I think I came wheel to wheel with some people in the race (besides AI) and enjoyed every second :) I hope you all have a fun rest of the season, it's unlikely I can participate in another one (mid june is a possibility...) Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Round 1 - Albert Park Post by: rip|ChITty on April 14, 2010, 09:24:20 PM Well done Luma! Particularly on little sleep!
You did a real good job of crushing my spirit during quali. I really didn't think I'd have much of a chance at the win given your opening race pace. No more setups for you! ;) I sure hope you can make it to another race this season (not too many now :P), you're so crazy fast it's nice to have that bar set high to try and reach. Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Round 1 - Albert Park Post by: rip|Lumacor on April 15, 2010, 05:58:24 AM It was a great strategy race, if not particularly condusive to a replay friendly fight (shot yourself in the foot there haven't you for starring in your own winning race replay much! - I'm sure you'd rather have the win though ;))
Buz had told me that you were going (or considering at least) 1 stop, which I though was a bit nuts, until up to the end of practice, when I'm not sure if you noticed, but I did quite a few runs for different things, all except a 1 stop, so had no idea if it would work. As per some of our other races (Brazil notably!) I like to mix it up a bit on the strategy front. For a while I had been considering doing 3 stops in this race. The lap times would have been nuts, but sadly it would have meant having to basically find a whole extra lap of time. As it is, I really enjoyed having to go flat out all the way round on 2 stops, all that was missing was I should have had 'ride of the valkyries' playing at the time! I also really appreciate the setup help, I'm not that great at creating brand new setups, but I am rather good at fine tuning / adapting them. I could not use it at all in its vanilla state (damn, you like the car to be unstable!) I was getting panicky that I would have a turgid 2010-Michael Schumacher-style return. I was only able to set unsatisfactory lap times in the 1.44-46 area. Then literally about 15 mins before the practice session opened up on the server, I changed the caster setting massively, and then it was all roses from there. So is it going to be another Chitty vs Buz season? Chitty vs everyone? I think I'm going to have to come back for the last race of the season if it's a championship decider at least... ;) :P Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Round 1 - Albert Park Post by: rip|buzinator on April 15, 2010, 06:11:53 AM Holy cow what a night.
I was 1sec up on my PB in quali and within sight of the finish line when the session changed ... apparently I'm driving a ferrari. A poor start and then my FFB vanished somewhere between turns 2 & 3. Due to the new steering situation I had trouble keeping up with Chitty, when my strat was built around getting in front of him off the line my day was done. Excessive grass mowing on pit entry, did a stop & go. Still, had some pretty enjoyable runs with Cawdor (early), Chitty (mid) and BP (late). Very good racing Bret/Cawdor/BP ... that was a long stretch to be all over each other so much. Awesome to watch in the replay. I was overall very pleased with the new rule tweaks and also with all the human drivers making it so competitive whilst remaining so clean. My hat's off to all you guys. Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Round 1 - Albert Park Post by: rip|buzinator on April 15, 2010, 06:12:35 AM Oh - and I think we're going to see an Chitty vs. BP season. But time will tell.
Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Round 1 - Albert Park Post by: rip|mrkavanagh on April 15, 2010, 07:02:25 AM Oh - and I think we're going to see an Chitty vs. BP season. But time will tell. Need to get in a whole of seat time before next race. I really got beat up last night by the AI and myself. Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Round 1 - Albert Park Post by: bpbriles on April 15, 2010, 07:44:30 AM Yeah, really good stuff last night. I was with Buz on the fact that my strategy needed me to get out front or near the front early and use the most of a light car. FFB had other ideas!! I am just glad I did not cause damage to anyones car in the first couple of turns.
Lumacor you were DAMN fast. I came out of the pits on what I think was my second stop and I all of a sudden have blue flags waving!! Great job! I hope more of the races have a variety of strategy options. Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Round 1 - Albert Park Post by: rip|ChITty on April 15, 2010, 10:14:52 AM So is it going to be another Chitty vs Buz season? Chitty vs everyone? One race does not a season make. I have hopes of being quick this season, but I feel like I may miss more than 1 race this season due to a new house purchase. Bretware can't be counted out as he's the master tactician and continued strong performance week after week is going to require some strategy tricks. Plus he has 75kgs, plus that wasn't really his track. I think it's going to be a great shootout. Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Round 1 - Albert Park Post by: Cawdor on April 15, 2010, 04:47:26 PM Enjoyable race, I always enjoy Melbourne but I screwed over my pit strategy. I didn't think a 1 stop was possible and so going with two I tried to equalize my fuel intake for both to minimize time. I didn't do enough research and over fueled by over 40L. I guess I'm satisfied with my finish, I know I worked very hard for it. Seya next race
Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Round 1 - Albert Park Post by: rip|Bretware on April 15, 2010, 06:40:02 PM Great race, it goes down as one of the most interesting races yet. I was happy with the run, car was much better than last year, but I had to down tune to make the one stop work. I think if I would have done two stops I would have finished in the same position, it's just not my track, everytime I go to Australia I feel like I'm upside down.
Great job Chitty, I knew we could make the one stop work, hopefully I can talk you into trying a no stop strategy for the next race. Title: Re: GP Season 7 - Round 1 - Albert Park Post by: rip|Lumacor on April 16, 2010, 03:56:18 AM You're all awesome :D
