Title: Re: Season 7 - Round 7 - Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi Post by: rip|buzinator on May 27, 2010, 10:19:19 AM Oh shit - closing and moving houses right?
Title: Re: Season 7 - Round 7 - Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi Post by: rip|ChITty on May 31, 2010, 09:24:57 PM Hot Lap Update: (5/31 at 11 PM EST)
ChITty - 1:55.780 Buz - 1:57.400 EZ - 1:58.116 BP - 1:58.152 Bretware - 2:00.904 Title: Re: Season 7 - Round 7 - Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi Post by: rip|buzinator on June 02, 2010, 01:47:00 PM Ok, so taking a guess that we will lap 4 or 5 sec slower on average
50:00 / 2:03 = 24.3 Laps ... rounded down to allow some wiggle room for pitting ... 24 Lap race. Title: Re: Season 7 - Round 7 - Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi Post by: rip|buzinator on June 03, 2010, 07:35:54 AM FYI - For those that were not on last night ... This race was, very sadly, interrupted by some kind of networking hiccup that dropped everyone except BPBriles at about 2/3 race distance.
It sucked A LOT. As a result, the current plan is to re-run the race this coming Wednesday, June 9th. The upshot is that hopefully we'll see 3 or 4 more drivers participate. Since there were a couple issues for guys installing the track last minute, I will soon post a link for people to download a copy of the server's track installation. This will ensure 100% compatability, with corrected GDB (for multiplayer) and AIW (AI Fuel usage) integrated. Title: Re: Season 7 - Round 7 - Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi Post by: rip|buzinator on June 03, 2010, 08:19:07 AM 1st post in the thread now links to a copy of the track as used on the server. Should resolve any compatibility issues.
Just to be safe, here's the link again: http://www.whoopass-racing.com/files/race07/_AbuDhabi_buz_modded.zip I strongly recommend deleting any existing version of Abu Dhabi you may have installed. Check for duplicates with different names too, I think there maybe multiple versions around, some "Abu Dhabi" and others "_AbuDhabi" etc. Kill them all. When you're sure your game is free of Abu Dhabis, extract the above file to your game ... the _AbuDhabi folder goes into: C:\Program Files\steam\steamapps\[username]\race07\GameData\Locations\ New users may have to manually create the GameData and Locations subfolders if this is their first time installing a 3rd party track. The hot lap server is back online, so folks can test their installations and get some practice in. Title: Re: Season 7 - Round 7 - Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi Post by: Ezeon on June 03, 2010, 09:58:28 AM Or....
You could just hand me my first win of the season please :P Title: Re: Season 7 - Round 7 - Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi Post by: rip|buzinator on June 03, 2010, 10:34:27 AM well, the F1 thing would be to award half points based on the order we last crossed the finish line...
Sweet poster ... man it looks like a 60's jazz album that my parents would have. I love it. Title: Re: Season 7 - Round 7 - Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi Post by: rip|buzinator on June 03, 2010, 10:40:30 AM Added a poll to the thread ... let's see what everyone thinks ...
Title: Re: Season 7 - Round 7 - Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi Post by: Ezeon on June 03, 2010, 01:10:18 PM Thanks buz,
would have been cooler if the hotel looked more real than two blobs. Title: Re: Season 7 - Round 7 - Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi Post by: rip|Bretware on June 03, 2010, 04:24:46 PM I have alittle problem with letting the race stand, only because I had to make two stops and made them on lap 4, lap 14. Had I known it was possible for a race to be cut short maybe my pit stops would have been on lap 10, lap 20. I should have had at least 4th place covered.
Maybe we should think about a rule in the event of a server failure, calling the race official if the leader has crossed the start line exactly the 3/4 mark or any time after. Title: Re: Season 7 - Round 7 - Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi Post by: Ezeon on June 04, 2010, 09:03:21 AM I don't really care either way really, but technically you would be bumped up to fourth because a current rule states technical errors making you disconnect will put you behind the last human player.
I'd just rather not have the season being delayed to much further, its summer time man! Title: Re: Season 7 - Round 7 - Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi Post by: rip|buzinator on June 04, 2010, 09:35:46 AM IMO ... Ez's Pole bonus was won fair and square in a session that was not interrupted ... so it doesn't seem right to take that away.
However I'm not opposed to re-running the race. If we did, I admit that starting form the rear could lead to issues with the AI that wouldn't normally occur. So what if we did single-lap, one-and-done, qualifying, to get us up ahead of the AI, and then go for it? Also, appreciating Ez's concern about keeping moving forward, would anyone be up for a race re-run over the weekend or on another night, so we can continue with the regular schedule on Wednesday? Title: Re: Season 7 - Round 7 - Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi Post by: rip|buzinator on June 04, 2010, 09:53:02 AM ... wow, just noticed the vote changes.
So I guess that's settled? Title: Re: Season 7 - Round 7 - Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi Post by: bpbriles on June 04, 2010, 10:35:13 AM "As it stands" ...... would be as the race order was when the glitch happened...?
EZ, Buz , myself then Bretware...correct? Title: Re: Season 7 - Round 7 - Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi Post by: rip|buzinator on June 04, 2010, 10:45:34 AM As opposed to 1min later when you were leading, due to being the only human on the server?
Yes :P ;) The end of Lap 17 was the last time the leader crossed the line prior to the glitch... 70.8% race distance. |
