Title: Help with Low frame rates....
Post by: rip|mrkavanagh on September 22, 2010, 07:11:27 AM
This is the issue I had last night trying to play F1 2010...

When my GTX 460 is installed I can not get decent frame rate no matter what resolution or graphics settings I use. It wont even play when I drop the res to 800x600 and ultra low.

Now get this. When I removed my GTX 460 and put my 9600 GT 512mb in my PC I get decent frame rates at medium settings, 2xAA, and 1920x1200 resolution. But its still unplayable.

I know a graphics card can bottleneck a pc, but this is just weird because I can run crysis on medium settings with the config and the GTX 460. And can run Dirt2 at max settings using the 9600 gt, never tried it with the gtx 460

Any help would be appreciated.....all drivers have been updated

For the time being I am stuck using my current pc until I get my money back from the people that sent me a dead pc.

Here are my current specs

Pentium D 2.8ghz
3gigs of memory
Win 7 pro 64-bit
GTX 460 1gb OC / 9600 GT 512mb

Try turning down the graphical features? (not just the res), eg the AA level, shadows, particles etc.

Also try toggling the V-sync setting to opposite of whatever it is currently. (seeing some claims in Codemasters forum that disabling v-sync can help with stutter)

Also make sure your hard drive is defragmented ... I actually got a warning form the game about this.

I turned everything off and tried the game at 800x600 and didn't get more than 30fps.

Yeah I got that defrag error too. Here is a link to the Steam forums where some one said uninstalling the game and then redownloading it helped out with performance. I will try defrag and then a re-install

Intel Core2 Duo E8135 @ 2.40GHz Score = 1,672
Intel Pentium D 2.80GHz Score = 737

So it looks like my current CPU is not enough to play (http://www.fordaustraliaforums.com/forum/images/smilies/custom/banghead.gif)

I guess I will go buy it for the 360 and play on the 360 until I get my new pc which hopefully be by the middle of October.

I am going to go home during lunch and un-install it and then put it downloading again and see if that helps. If not I guess I will be playing it on the 360 once gamestop starts to carry it.

I will try out Dirt2 tonight with the 460. F1 is currently re-installing right now. I am going to see how it runs after the re-install with the 9600 then I will try with the 460.

Did i mention crysis runs at 1920x1200 at medium settings on my machine with the 460 installed?

I got a reply from Codemasters last....DOH looks like I will be playing it on the 360 until I get my new pc

Unfortunately your CPU is below the minimum requirements for the game. F1 2010 requires a full dual-core CPU which the Pentium D is not I'm afraid.

We can only recommend that you try running the game in safe-mode, as you may be able to get acceptable performance in that configuration.

Of course the game wont run in safemode......wont even load

I wouldn't worry too much about it since you will soon have a kick a$$ PC.  Well, one day anyway.

Go outside or find something else to play.

Yes I did and I filed an Unauthorized/Improper ACH Debit Activity claim with my bank today.

I made a $50 payment on my paypal credit card using bank draft. Then I made a $200.55 payment on my paypal account because it was in the negative because that b$tch claimed the iphone was not as described and paypal took the money from me told her send it back to me.

So thats two payments I made to two different parts of paypal using two different forms of payment. Then last night they took out the $200.55 by debit card, then they took out $250.55 by echeck WTF!!!!

I am not having a good day. >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( or week!!!

they should have taken $200.55 and $50. But they took $200.55 and $250.55. So they took $200.55 to much. Plus I didn't authorize an echeck for $250.55. My bank said I would have the money back tonight.
