Title: Wheel working again :) Post by: rip|buzinator on July 12, 2011, 10:02:30 AM I think only BP was aware of this but recently 'my precious' old-school, Red, Logitech Momo Force wheel recently suffered a broken accelerator pedal spring.
(http://images.techtree.com/ttimages/story/attzIU99S.jpg) Very unfortunate. But I guess this is an old wheel and something had to give eventually. Even so, there was nothing else wrong with it. I really didn't want to shell out for a G27 and I just know I'd never be satisfied with the feel of a cheaper wheel (the Red has an actual Momo wheel, from Italy, hand stitched leather and all). After some digging around I found this page.. http://www.lugnutsracing.com/pedals.php My wheel is now back in action, and possibly better than it's ever been! I moved the brake spring to the accelerator (had to file down the mount-point as the brake used a smaller diameter spring than the accelerator) and then I installed a squash ball in the place of the brake spring. (http://www.lugnutsracing.com/files/pedal4.jpg) (http://www.lugnutsracing.com/files/pedals6.jpg) Now I have a very stiff brake action and the accelerator is slightly beefed up also, making both pedals very much more realistic feeling! ;D ;D ;D (I used a double-dot Yellow squash ball for anyone with the curiosity. It is the 2nd slowest compound and so there's actually a tactile effect of the brakes taking a few laps to literally warm up lol) Title: Re: Wheel working again :) Post by: bpbriles on July 13, 2011, 11:26:04 AM Sweet!
Glad to hear you got it up and running again. I've heard of tennis balls being used, but not the squash balls. Nice find. You gonna try out those new brakes tonight? .......oh yeah, don't forget to bleed them too. ;) Title: Re: Wheel working again :) Post by: rip|buzinator on July 13, 2011, 05:01:50 PM lol, hell yeah I am.
