Title: Coyotezeye's New Build - Need help Post by: rip|CoyotezEye on October 31, 2011, 09:44:01 AM K boys so I am hopefully a couple weeks away from being back on.
I need some help finishing picking some components. Need something to run BF3 decently. But still need to maintain a budget of around ~$1000 to $1200 or Less. I already have some parts. But need to order the rest. Heres what I got so far: Case - NZXT Phantom http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146067 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146067) or I can go with the SILVERSTONE RAVEN http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811163154 I was leaning towards the Phantom. PSU - CORSAIR Gaming Series GS700 700W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139024 RAM - Kingston HyperX Blu 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104262 Nic - VisionTek Bigfoot Killer 2100 Gaming Network Card What I need to get: CPU - Was looking at the Intel Core i5-760 Lynnfield 2.8GHz = $200 Mobo - Video Card - SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6870 1GB = $150 after rebate. Was going to order this tonight. SSD - Need something big enough to run Win 7 & a couple of games. I have a 1.5 TB External HD for storage. OS - Win 7 Mouse - Keyboard - Headset - Monitor - I had all razer products for Mouse, Keyboard & Headset last time. Anyone got any other recommendations? Title: Re: Coyotezeye's New Build - Need help Post by: rip|CoyotezEye on October 31, 2011, 03:05:44 PM K made some changes heres where I am at. Im a bit over where I want to be. And thats using the stock CPU cooler that comes with it.
Anyone got any recommendations? Monitor might be a bit overkill. Could probably downsize to a 20" or so and save $80+/- What about the SSD? Is it worth spending $200 or should I look at a slower cheaper one for closer to $150? $1,349.51 before Mail in Rebates I would get about $60 back give or take. CPU = Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) = $215 MOBO = ASRock P67 EXTREME4 (B3) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 = $160 SSD = Corsair Force Series GT CSSD-F120GBGT-BK 2.5" 120GB SATA III = $202 Video = SAPPHIRE 100314-3L Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express = $180 Monitor = Asus VH238H Black 23" Full HD HDMI LED Backlight LCD Monitor w/Speakers = $180 Headphones = Tt eSPORTS SHOCK Foldable Gaming Headset Shining White HT-SHK002ECWH = $75 OS = Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit - OEM = $100 Keyboard = RAZER Black USB Wired Lycosa Mirror Special Edition Gaming Keyboard = $67 Mouse = RAZER Imperator Battlefield 3 Edition Black 1 x Wheel USB Wired Laser & Optical Dual Sensor Mouse = $80 DVD RW = LITE-ON 24X DVD Writer Black SATA Model iHAS-324-98B = $20 Game = BF3 Limited Edition = $60 Title: Re: Coyotezeye's New Build - Need help Post by: rip|MightyMax on October 31, 2011, 06:06:28 PM -- SSD is nice, but not sure how much more performance you will get in gaming. -- I say stick with the 23"... :-) -- Love the headphone color.. "Shining White" -- I've only heard good things about "Sandy Bridge" -- I can't really say anything about the graphics card... I've been in the "other" camp for so long now. One thing for sure though... I look forward to seeing you back soon. Title: Re: Coyotezeye's New Build - Need help Post by: rip|CoyotezEye on October 31, 2011, 07:35:51 PM K Ordered 3 more items tonight :)
I ordered the video card The Keyboard The Headset That will go with Case PSU RAM Nic Card I should be ordering the rest in the next couple of weeks. Title: Re: Coyotezeye's New Build - Need help Post by: rip|bonuspoints on November 02, 2011, 11:05:30 AM For CPU i would go with i7 2600K. Hands down the best 4 core chip you can buy without breaking the bank.
For SSD I would stick with a 120GB Sata 6G something. The prices have dropped significantly and the speeds are wildly fast. For keyboard and mouse and other peripherals I have always been a fan of logitech. I am rocking the G19 keyboard, G9x mouse, and G35 headset. Also I am sitting on a Corsair 1200watt that I am not using. If your interested I could sale it to you for cheap. would have picked the motherboard first. If you really want to rock the killer nic why not get this with it itegrated http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128525 Title: Re: Coyotezeye's New Build - Need help Post by: rip|CoyotezEye on November 07, 2011, 03:22:23 PM Bonus - Thanks for the tips.
I already have a Killer Nic Card that I won. Thats why I am going to use it. I also already have the case, Power Supply & RAM. So I am good on a PSU. I grabbed one a bit back with a gift card I had. I ordered & got me my new video card, keyboard & headset. Just ordered the Monitor just now. I changed to a Acer 21.5" monitor which I got from Staples for ~$80 to save some money. Heres whats left: CPU MOBO - The one I was looking at sold out so I need a different one. SSD DVD Burner Mouse Operating System Hopefully another week or 2 before I can order them up. Title: Re: Coyotezeye's New Build - Need help Post by: rip|CoyotezEye on January 10, 2012, 03:49:58 PM Yeah already planned on going the i-5 route. I have never OC'd before & am a bit hesitant. So I might just go the i5-2500 route and not OC it.
Title: Re: Coyotezeye's New Build - Need help Post by: rip|CoyotezEye on January 12, 2012, 01:33:25 PM K got the wife to give me the (2) $100 AMEX gift cards that we had gotten. I got those + my $50 Newegg gift card to use.
