Figured I'd start a new thread specifically for the racing challenge...hopefully confusion will be avoided this way.

I glanced at the notes on the T3R challenge setup that Wiggum posted early in the proceedings and modifed them to suit us... here's my thoughts, to get the ball rolling...

We negotiate a date for the event that's at least 2 weeks out, maybe a month. That will give each team time to choose and practice a 'home' car & track combination.

Then as we get close to the date, say a couple days before, we both post our car & track selections, each team having a brief chance to familiarize with the other's choice.


FORMAT:

I would suggest the following:

Cheat Prevention: Lenient
Warnings: 10
Yellow Flags: ON
Blue Flags: ON
Corner Cutting: OFF
Careless Driving: OFF
Handling: SIM
Damage: SIM
Gravel Traps: SIM
Collisions: FULL
Setups: OFF

Pitting ... not sure, I really prefer it on, but there is a risk of glitching if two cars pit very close together, so perhaps it should be off.

Qualifying: 2 LAPS
Race: 15 ... depending on track length, max 20, min 10

I guess we could do our home race with our rules and then the BEER home race with BEER rules?

Not sure how scoring worked in the BEER vs T3R event, but perhaps we could use  the patented WAR scoring system (http://www.whoopass-racing.com/season1/pages/rules.html) and then decide the challenge winner based on collective points of each team.

If a tie ... perhaps we each nominate 1 driver and do a 1 on 1 with everyone watching to decide it?

I copy the settings to our page, and as usualy i speak too early but we gonna set something up.

Dont know how the points must work, so maybe one of you could explaine the thing you use?

Proposed Points system:
1st Place = 15 pts
2nd Place = 12 pts
3rd Place = 10 pts
4th Place = 9 pts
5th Place = 8 pts
6th Place = 7 pts
7th Place = 6 pts
8th Place = 5 pts
9th Place = 4 pts
10th Place = 3 pts
11th Place = 2 pts
12th Place = 1 pts

Bonus Points:
Pole Position in Qualifying = 1 pt
Fastest Lap of Race = 1 pt

BUT - the maximum number of points available to a single driver is 15.

If the race winner achieves pole position and/or fastest lap, they will not recieve the bonus points, but they will have prevented the other drivers from obtaining them.

We've done a couple seasons with that system and I think it works pretty good.

Last time we choose a track and laps with our settings, and the other team choosed a track with there settings.

But one race is good also if it is on a week day.

I guess many of your guys are in europe, by the sound of it?
we're entirely US...so i guess it would be kind of late for you.

Perhaps we should do two races but a week apart?

We are mostly in GMT or in GMT+1 so yes europe.

But we can work something out, if i can catch my gameleader lol.

Talked to my gameleader and we gonna see wat we can do.

I think that the settings as you proposed are good enough for us.

That leaves us with the race itself and the time.

Looking at the time differences we are not getting 15 racers either:-)

So it is gonna be early for you guys and late for us, tell me wat time suites you all, in a week day 12:00 GMT in the night is late enough.

We can do 2 races on 1 race each week?

You choose a track/car/laps and we choose one?

Then a practice time of 2 weeks?

Then set a date?

How's April 21st sound? Would that be a problem as far as time zones, being a Monday?

Timezones are an issue i think, because Holland is then in GMT+2":-(

Okay so you guys will do a shorter race as we used too thats no problem.

But normaly we do 2 races of 25 laps, so we do now 2 races from 10 laps if its a long track and 15 laps if it is a short track?
Normaly the oponent choose a track and we do, is that allright?

I have no clue wat pointsystem you guys use but we give it a try.

Is it ok with you guys if we choose a non-default car & track combination?

I can mod the champ.big file to do almost any combination ... I know corner flags can get messed up, but for our choice, there would only be blue and yellow flags, we don't like corner flags at all.

You're correct about the number of laps ... some of us are limited by time, some of us just get too physically tired after a lot of laps. 10 for a really long track or 15 for a shorter one is preferred.

Now your talking, as long if we are getting that big file too there is no problem:-)

That is if only host need it otherwise it could give problems.

We are gonna do clio on one of the GP tracks i think:-)

So you choose another track an make sure we get the big file, then we are going to practice and set a date and time.

The flag thing is np we can do without the cornercutting flag.

Cool ... we'll probably do a shorter track than GP. Prob not Clio either, we'll mix things up a bit with something like the Atom, perhaps.

If you don't make radical changes, you can have the big file only on the server...but I'll post it for all to download anyway...can't hurt to have everyone the same. If you want, I can make a big file with your track choice under Clios in addition to whatever we choose ... all in one?

We let the time the same so 8PM GMT (Most uf us are on GMT +1 or2)
3 questions that must be solved.

1. How many racers on your side?

2. Wich track u are going too use?

3. Wich track we are going to use.

The last question i answer after this weekend together with the confirming the date and time.

For us we think 26th April works, we must see wich time, because 2:00 in the morning is not gonna work:-)

So when you can make your choice, and maybe get a file for that we can get practicing.

I took the liberty to look at the guidelines you use, i think they are good enough for us, so i hope you dont have a problem me bring them to our forum, so we all can do the same way of driving.

With youre pointsystem every racer has to finish to do something for the team, thats wat we like about that.

I'll have to get back to you after consulting my guys on most of the stuff you asked about, but with the points system, yeah, you do it manually ... i just think it's cool to have extras for fast lap or pole. and the other thing is even if you come 12th, you get a point, nobody misses out completely.

hmmm, actually, for me personally, earlier might work better, if you're interested ... what about 6pm GMT?

(will still have to check with my guys).

I think 6 will work, but we go short in time here because we need to practice the track you guys want to do?

If you choose Touring Cars, you should see I changed the first two series to say "RIP vs BEER" ... the 2nd might show the graphic for Type-R but it is the Atom. Will just need the unlocker util to choose the cars.

And don't forget to back up original files first. lol.

OK, i was depending on log files but forgot that i recently reinstalled my game so the logging got turned off (off by default) so i don't have timing etc.

But i think it's clear that BEER was victorious on the day. Well done everyone, congrats BEER.

It was a nice race i followed Buz and BEER4Iracus in the second race and that was nice too watch changing places every lap:-)

There where connection probs in the beginning, thats why we use Hamachie more and more lol.

I think everyone did a great job, and had fun also i hope.
And a rematch is always possible, but first we gonna do something with the T3R guys i think:-)

TBTCC Teambeer Touringcar championship

An old idea in a new Grid jacket.

The championship wil include all the touringcar tracks available in the private room part of grid.
Teams must have 3 drivers at all time. We will do atleast 1 race a week and the races wil be 15 laps long. You can only win the championship as a team so everyone of ur team is important. We/i wil form teams that wil cary a color.

Example (team1) Green r driving in green cars.
.................(team2) Red r driving in red cars.
etc tec tec.

If 1 of ur teammates can not join the race u, ore ur team must try 2 find a driver that can replace him.
If there is nobody just drive with 2, the points of the 2 drivers wil count. The teams wil not be changed during the season.
Points place 1 12 p
.............place2 11p
.............place3 10p
etc etc etc.

- Price. Maybe the bosses of teambeer wil place ur team and ur names on the mainpage of the website so the whole globe can c who won this weeks race. (i first got 2 ask the bosses about this) -

Guys dont be scared whe/i am not gonna put all the fast players in 1 team. Whe palyed allot lately so i think we all know who is fast and who is faster. Whe/i wil realy try 2 fill in the teams in a fair way.

I'm certainly interested. Will have to look into the details to see if it's going to work for me. I'm not worried about getting an ass whooping either, have to be able to take it if i'm to give it. So long as there's a couple others who are similar pace it's cool.
