Of course I am still waiting on my refund from the jerks that sent me a dead pc, but I am still looking over newegg and selecting the parts to order to build my new pc.

I currently have this CPU selected

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core

My question is, should I get a better CPU or stick with the one above and get this SSD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148348&cm_re=CTFDDAC128MAG-_-20-148-348-_-Product

the 128gb seems unnecessary to me.

But SSD does seem necessary. why not get a 40 or 64gb ssd for OS and a couple apps and a 2TB HDD for storage/bulk apps.

I have a 64G, most of my programs are on a platter drive and I still only average about 20G's free.
There are programs you will want to install on your C drive, like utility's and background programs, it will speed up response and boot times.
