Well...I turned all the fluff off in Grid and set fraps to record 1/2 size at 60fps which all in all went verrrry smooth. I couldn't even tell fraps was running and the videos look just fine. I used Virtual Dub to splice and append videos together and then encoded to Xvid. Uncompressed 1 lap ends up being like 2GB via fraps...Xvid took it down to something like 150MB...well within Youtube limits.

Okutama is going to be a hairy bitch. There's a lot of potential for totalling (at least for me hehehe). I managed to hit 128.86 as my best so far. As you can see...it was still a little rough...but hot damn that's a fast track with a lot of tricky corners  Shocked

Anyone else have any times to post :?:  Cheesy

Holy shit man ... you went full throttle the whole way around (except for the one sharp corner) Huh?
Are you shifting manually? I don't see myself beating that time. It's a scary-assed track to be going around at full throttle.

We will have damage off btw, lol, thankfully.

Ohhhh yeah...damage off duh. Automatic shifting and yes, full throttle. It took a while to get the corners right without either spinning out or losing too much speed. I tried several times to do it by just letting up on the accelerator instead of using the turns to slow me down...but still couldn't beat the full throttle approach.

Youtube assed up my video as usual. I need to figure out the best format/size to upload in order to maintain quality. The 156mb original xvid is clear enough to actually read the display =\

I hit 1:28:13 tonite. That's 99th on the in game leaderboards...minus the times that are clearly incorrect...minus the fact that people with slower times are ahead of me...it works out to 17th lol.

/pats self on back

I want one of those 1:27 times...I'm so close Shocked

Don't, it lags up the replay pretty heavily.

I'm sportin' a 1.32.99 as my best lap...  I'm just gonna have to hope you crash... alot.

I'm confused by this comment.  Using the turns to slow you down?  That must be a wheel thing cause the only thing the turns will let me do is crash into them at a high rate of speed.

Hmm...well...it's a "wheel on the car" thing anyway. I just turn into the corners really early to slow me down as opposed to braking or decelerating. I suppose if there's a trick to it, it's timing the corners right and not losing the back end. I think where I'm losing lap time is the one corner I actually have to brake for. I suck at braking.

I hate this track!!!

http://www.xfire.com/video/1de9c/

There's no way I'm improving my lap times by 3 seconds.  I'm on the very edge as it is.  I wonder if my turning radius in game isn't as compared to the wheel users because after watching your video, taking corners like that is impossible with a gamepad at those speeds.  It's like we turn in at the same spot, but in your video you're able to just keep on turning while in the corner where I am turning as much as possible and I'll understeer right into the wall.

Well now. That's a sporting maneuver. I'm confused. There's no debris in the road. You didn't hit the walls. How exactly did you get it up on 2 wheels?

It always surprised me when it comes up that this is not common knowledge, it really should be. Joystick/pad controls do not get you the same brake/throttle/steering travel as a wheel. It has always been this way in Codies games.

That said, keep on using the pad man, for a while I've been kinda nervous, wondering what kind of speed you'd have with a wheel. This system is good for me.
