Well, the Prius did make car of the year in 03 so it can't be ALL bad.  IMO if you wanted something good on gas, buy a motorcycle Smiley

90% of my driving to and fro is very short trips (work is 12 mile 1 way) and then hauling the kid around doesn't really require a 6000lb 300hp chevy truck. Sooooo.....I worked a smokin deal on the P* which is in so much demand you can't even find them let alone get anything under MSRP.

Mid-size Sedan that completely matches the interior room of the Accord. No way does the performance match that of a V6 accord. However, I didn't buy it to pass Hemi's on the frwy. Plenty of room.....lots of compartment storage and very comfortable to drive. It actually shuts down (and then runs on electric) at stops to save energy. The Quiet is Erie!

The BIG attraction is all the Tech stuff on it. This car is Waaaaay ahead technologically of anything on the road today. No Gears.....Constant Velocity transmission....The Gear "Toggle" if you will, has P, R, D, B (which is an electronic brake). Great voice activated Nav system. A "smart" key which never needs to leave your pocket to start the car or unlock it. The other kewl feature is you never have to plug it in. Whenever you take your foot off the gas......the power of the rolling wheels goes to regen the batteries (10 yr, 150K mile warranty on batt in CA). Also, Whenever you apply the brakes.....all that power is used to regen the Batteries. There are 4 onboard PC's to manage the hybrid system and to safeguard that the batteries will never be without a charge.

I predict many people will be killed in parking lots by these because in Stealth mode (all electric)....you can't hear them coming.

Oh, and since it uses lots of electric power.......oil changes are less frequent as is other wear and tear on the Internal combustion engine! Plus.....it's a fricken Toyota.....they run forever!

I could go on for hours but.....go drive one. GM is waaaaaaaay behind on this!

Oh....I have the moonie hubcaps already ordered and will be going heavy tint on the windows......Here's a pic of the hubcaps.....

 doooood........
obviously, this was a point that kind of goes without saying.....but .......since you asked.......
Most peeps realize 50 mpg.......It gets better as the car breaks in and the driver learns how to drive more efficiently.
The P* has a big LCD that reports many of the cars functions......one screen is dedicated to your current energy use......here is a link to a guys site that took some mpegs of the old style energy screen....but it gives you the concept.

oh....I kept the truck....It's paid for...... the trick is.......I'm selling it to my wife's horse business....hehe....then it's a write off......additionally, the payments her business makes to "us" will then go to pay-off the P*.

well I ask because I heard a number of times that the theoretical MPG of hybrids vs the reality don't jive. I am sure they are still great on gas but not what some intially thought. Honestly I drive a Saturn and I get 35mpg and that is pretty damn hawt considering gas prices. $20 will get me through about 2 weeks of driving to and fro work. I can only imagine what 50mpg would do.

Oh and you're welcome. We the American taxpayers are happy to support you and your car vehicle scams Tongue
