GRID was the established game, that the majority of players had.
Season 4 is in progress using GRID.

However it's lacking many features, as we all observed upon switching to it from Toca3. Dissatisfaction lead to some of us trying out different games and so far GTRe has garnered the most support. Out of the 4 drivers in Season 4 / Round 1, three already were playing GTRe on the side...so it's only natural that things will develop in that area.

A few things GTRe has over GRID:

- Dedicated Server
 ... 25 50 car limit(!!!), not 12
 ... detailed config: forced pits stops, tire wear rate, fuel burn rate etc.
 ... kick & ban system (temp or perm)
- Rear View Mirror
- Pits stops are back, and more interactive than Toca3.
- Mods! Can install extra tracks that weren't in the original game, even some cars.
- AI cars are available in Online races.
- Replays of ONLINE races, allows different cars and angles, incident reviews.
- Detailed log files, from which race stats & championship data can be generated. Eliminates risk of forgetting screen shots.
- Weight penalties, championship leaders can be forced to carry extra load, leveling the playing field a bit. (opposite of the ebay-car effect)
- Wet tires available, because...
- Weather is changeable!
