Cool, I did not know that the MX-5 was replacing the solstice.  I would bet it will be released within 2-3 weeks of Oct 25th.  Just like the F1 car, for the new season.

I agree, the SRF is a blast and really makes you put it in the right place @ the right angle of attack.  Its one of my favs as well.  I have trouble with the skippy, I have not learned how to use that "pendulum" of a rear end to my advantage yet.  It has CRAZY oversteer.

To me, the Star Mazda is the best car on here that I have come across.  Lots of people race this car all hours of the day.  You can really wring its neck around a track.  Its also very forgiving if you go to far.

I have already bought all road cars and I run the higher class cars in hosted sessions quite often.  There are some FAST folks out there!!  Both of the prototypes are real fun as well.  I have not made a clear decision on which is best, they both have their pros and cons.

Indy car is a blast as well. However, I can't run it on short ovals yet with others.  WAY TO INTENSE!  I cause lots of wrecks at those tracks, so I steer clear.

I love V8 supercars. We ran a season with them a couple of years ago. I am sure they much different on iRacing.

So how much money have you two spent on this game?

Yeah the Ford Falcon it nuts!!      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FSI6kHKLfs

On the cost, figure $24 for 4 months so far.

What you "need" to spend to advance, would be.....

One car for each class.  (Road and oval ALWAYS being separate)  $14.95

You can get by with 2 or 3 new tracks in each class. (give or take)  $11.95-$14.95

Normally a season is 12 weeks. You can usually only move up @ the end of each season, usless "fastracked".

Next week I will open B class (Road racing) and C class (oval).  So in roughly 4 months I have needed to buy 3 cars and roughly 8-10 tracks.  I would basically buy a new track or car every couple of weeks.  I skipped C class (Road racing) using the fastrack system.  So I never actually needed to buy C class car or tracks.  This is based on my pace and you can advance as fast or slow as you like.  I bought more cars and tracks than necessary, just because of how many hosted sessions there are and they require no license, just the car and track of choice.

For instance, if everyone signs up for the trial, pays their fee.  Then go buy a fast car whatever you want as long as we all buy on the same one.  We then host  races at one of the 7 default road courses. (included in start up package).  We have full admin abilities.   ie... passwords, laps,  etc....  You can also leave it open and you will get quite a few pepole to join.  We can boot the "douchebags" if needed. Once you get into faster cars, everyone usually has great etiquette even on public sessions.

Some tracks and cars I will never even purchase, there would be no need.

If you are going to try it, we will be on there tonite.

Yeah it can add up if you go crazy.  If you stay the course and buy as you progress it's not that bad.  With the unbelievable stat tracking and the track and car accuracy its worth it to me.  It is quite detailed and intricate

I am in no way trying to get everyone to convert to I-racing.  I just wanted everyone to know what it has to offer.  I truly enjoy racing with you guys and have NO plans to stop.  However, I do believe that we can easily increase our #'s (without compromising quality) if we were to use I-racing.  The race craft and driver etiquette of I-racing members is unmatched.  (Ovals racing not included)  All sanctioned servers are "public" and people just don't get in sessions to cause havoc and crash folks.  If they do, they are just wasting their $$.  You will NEVER advance if you drive like a "douchebag".

I understand the cost is a hitching point for most gamers who can easily mod, create and download nearly anything for free.  I had exactly the same mind set for months.  Then I signed up.  I got the 3 months for 1 deal and the rest is history.

For me on the other hand, I can't justify the "cost" of buying a PS3 and all accessories I would need to get going for 1 game.
I know Team RIP been doing race-on for a minute and change may be on the horizon.  However, I undoubtedly beleive Race-on or I-racing are our 2 very best options to move forward.

- What accessories?  Your wheel, if it's Logitech, probably works with GT5 as is.
- The number of racers playing GT5 will dwarf iRacing within the first month.
- PS3 is a great media streamer and Blu-ray player as well.

Yeah I would love to get a PS3.  They are the pinnacle in console's IMHO  Im sure there will be lots of people playing GT5, I just can't justify the purchase.

Are my horns showing?  Damn this wig!

However, I don't forsee GT5 being able to weed out the "douchebags" like I-racing does so well.  There are those damn horns again.........     Wink

We just picked a used Xbox last week.  Got a great deal.  First console I have owned since PS2 was pretty new.  It's been a minute.  We are hiding it until xmas,  for the kids.  I don't like FPS on console controlers and I get my racing fix on the PC so it's really for the kids and family games in our house.

There are douchebags in Race 07 as well, but we don't have any in our little league because it allows for private servers, just like GT5.  My impression from one of your previous posts was that the iracing ovals have douchebags as well.  D-bags are a universal gaming constant, but since GT5 will have a larger base of people to choose from, there are potentially more non d-bags you can find for any league sort of activity.

In I-racing you get 0 "DB"'s in PUBLIC servers.  Sin a bit and just try it.

Huh?? have you even been keeping up with GT5? It will be by far the most detailed racing sim of all time. OF ALL TIME!!! LOL

I have not really kept up.  I was hardcore a hardore GT fan from day #1.  When they started the game of "yes/no  ......well maybe" with release dates and info, I quickly lost interest.

Will there be damage?

What kind of #'s are they estimating?
