http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayrton_Senna%27s_Super_Monaco_GP_II

I just loved how they did the career and I really hope codemasters does something similar.  Basically you start in the back of the field in terms of cars and challenge other drivers for their rides.  It basically means you can't win the championship the first, or in many cases the 2nd year either.  I'm hopeful with the codemasters offering since they did something midly similar with the per race rivals.

Anyone else play that game on the SEGA genesis?  I even still play it today on my laptop on trips occasionally.

Was never into consoles since the Atari 2600 ... so I've never heard of this one.
Sounds like a cool concept though ... if Codies can keep some of the ideas that made GRID Single-player so great they might be able to get somewhere close to that...

I uploaded the emulator and the game to Jackal's FTP server.  Check it out... but remember to cut it some slack for being made in 1992.

Pretty decent write up of the game on F1fanatic

http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2009/08/20/classic-f1-games-super-monaco-gp/

You ever get those keys figured out Buz?

No I never did, I would set some stuff up and it appeared I was doing it correctly as far as I could tell but could never get the key bindings to actually function in the game.

I hope Codies offer 2 distinctive modes. I mean VERY different Arcade and Simulation modes.

Whereby both feature the same kind of look and damage model (stolen from GRID perhaps), but with, say, Simulation having geeky rfactor / gtr-evo setups and physics... and well... Arcade... like GRID!

I think if they go for a compromise with either they'll perhaps fail to be the best of either. As Sim fans will go elsewhere, and Arcade fans might not want even light levels of setup etc.

Will see if I can dig up any info from a friend in the know Wink

pc.ign.com has some info regarding the codemasters F1 game.

However, this thread is not about THAT F1 game.  It's about the best F1 game ever.
