When I'm airborne through the chicane I guess that means cutting even through two wheels would technically be on the curb... if I was still making contact with the road....

I don't see any provisions in your so called "rules" about altitude... It would be nice if the series organizer could pay attention to details... Tongue

That grey area is by design. Thank you for your request for clarification.

As no altitude limit has been imposed, none should be assumed.

At this time, track boundary definitions pertain to the horizontal plane only, ie, as viewed from above. If the line used by a vehicle causes all four wheels to exceed the outer horizontal limit of the rumble strip, said vehicle will be considered in breach of the sporting regulations - irrespective of altitude.

I hope this information is of use. [smilie=deal.gif]

Pretty much.  I haven't practiced the track since last weekend, but if I recall correctly, then that chicane is for all practical purposes non-existant.  That is, if your post was serious.

My post was serious ... but I wouldn't say the chicane was non-existant. In qualifying it's still a great place to lose time if you mess up.

And when a 2nd car is present the chicane takes on a whole new character ... as an obvious point at which to pass the lines and associated pedal-work change considerably. The car in front is of course welcome to ignore the car behind and take their usual line but in doing so, make themselves vulnerable to getting rammed and spun.

There will probably be accidents, we should all prepare ourselves for this.

On a happy side note - Jackal, Toadly and I all hit the 51's last night!

Woo - WOOOOOOOO!!!!

I'm going to get on tonight to wrap up on the track again.  Since you were taking the chicane in such a clean manner last weekend when we were messing around, I thought that might be the way we'd be expected to take the chicane for the race.

That's should be communicated to Dude clearly otherwise vent is going to blow up during the race.

51s are where it's at.  Were those with drafting or clean air laps?

drafting laps.

at the nurburgring i personally took the chicane the only way i could ... for me, anything else produces a visit to the wall. lol. If attacking it would have been faster for me, i would have done it.

i'll pm/email/xfire dude to death on the subject.

Wow we got an official rule amendment!  I wasn't being too terribly serious about the altitude thing.  I hope you don't think I'm a trouble maker now. Tongue

LOL, not at all.

Despite the reworking of the wording, this particular rule has actually been relaxed since previous seasons. In the past I believe we were limited to keeping one set of tires inside the white line, even when curbing was present. But now that the rumblestrips are considered part of the track by F1, well that's good enough for me, the area was subsequently expanded. Same again with the getting airborne situation ... now everybody should realize it's fine to bounce into the air off a curb, so long as your flightpath and recovery don't take you too far past the outline of the track.

We've increased the variety of lines we can take, that has to lead to more speed and overtaking imo.

It's all good!
