Can we use something like this for fine tuning our kit out? Since I thought we were running the race vanilla...? If not, can we use this whole time?

I actually use and am very happy with MotecAdd DX

http://www.veloceprod.fr/p/GTRE-DX_DeltaType2-Test.jpg
OMG Holy Balls Awesome (XD - Car info overlay)

Wink

It also gives you a real-time running order list in-car...

http://forum.racedepartment.com/motecadd/14353-gtre-motecadd-directx-version-real-time-telemetry-race-07-gtr-evolution-65.html#post309190

It's paid, but cheap, 5 euros, like $7.50.

So to clarify, you're that for the season?

Also, is it correct to say that this XD is a free knock off of the DX you're using?

I am planning to use it for the season, sure. Especially If I'm supposed to be creating setups for folks (although for stock tracks, the default setups are surprisingly good). I'm so glad I found it, because previously I'd been trying to use Motec i2 to read the logs but I could not for the life of me figure out what channel the brake temp data was using (data that should be available in the garage!). This fixed that and it's real-time.

During a race it's less valuable since you're generally preoccupied with ... well, racing. It's good for lap1 brake temps, and then water and tire temps throughout the race though. Oh, and the red/green lap comparison is useful too, to figure out your pace. And the running order / timesheet thing is pretty good too.

This XD thing, does appear to be a clone as far as I can tell.

Thanks for helping me get this installed last night Kal.

Thoughts...

- I love the gap display on the right, way better than what's in the game by default.
- Once I figured out where it was, I really dig having the tire health displayed
- Tire temps - I'm sure it's useful somehow, but not really to me, and definitely not in mid race
- Everything in the bottom left appears to be useful, but I just can't pull my eyes down there long enough to look at it.

Different data is relevant at different times, a lot of it is very useful in practice, when working on setup. But then in a race different things become important.

Tire temps are useful in both situations:
 - Inner, Middle & Outer temps are needed to set camber & pressure.
 - Having an idea of the average temp across the tire is useful in race ...  higher temps =  faster wear. You want to see temps close to 80oC or in the 170's F ... much higher and they go off, much lower and they don't work well).
 - Comparing the average temps between each of the tires can tell you if there's a corner, end or side of the car that's taking a particular beating, and sometimes you can adjust your driving style or lines to get a couple laps more life out of the things, or avoid a race-destroying late pit stop etc etc.

Tire temps, Meh.  I was running with 210 tire temps for 20 laps on Brno last night.

Normal.  My tires were yellow health after 20 laps.  Which means if I had a required pit with x2 tire wear I would pit halfway through, plus I'd have less weight due to half the fuel per stint.
