What do we do about unintended disconnects?  We're probably going to have at least one in the 400 minutes of racing we're planning...

Disconnect in the first 5 (10?) minutes
1 restart (what happens with starting order?  Would we have to re-qualify?)

Disconnect after the first 5 (10?) minutes
Option 1: Dropped player's best lap time + 2 (more?) seconds per lap is used for the remaining laps to determine finishing order (standard time can be added for pit as well if one would have been needed).
Option 2: AI driver name randomly chosen and it's performance is assigned to the dropped player.  Or just use that AI driver's lap times to fill out the rest of the race for the dropped player?

I'm sure those ideas are horrible.  Others?

This sounds reasonable for now, since there are only 3 of us.
If there got to be more of us (say 6+), then we might have to say no restarts.

Will have to test this, but I'm crossing my fingers that the Race07 dedi server is like rFactor's in that the admin can rearrange the starting grid as desired prior to race start.

Think I prefer option 1...maybe a standard pit time around 40sec?

- Visual ideas for the race results screens?

This goes for the grid run through too ... perhaps rather than a continuous scrolling thing, more of a quick motion then stop ... let the screen (or grid row) sit stationary for a moment, allowing the viewer to study it for a few secs before it zips away again..? If this is hard to achieve in vegas, no biggie.

Quote
- When Kal slid off the track on lap 1 I have a comment appear in the corner of the screen... more of that or never again? - Never again

For a TC race or KotR event I would say hell yeah, loads of that. But for this I think not so much. Correct call made.

Quote
- Should I add some background music during the racing action like what is there for the lap overview (not the same music), just much more quieter?

Might not be a bad idea ... have you tried experimenting with it at all? Run it up the flagpole if you're able...

Quote
- Additional track detail in the lap overview?  Like a PiP window with a layout of the track and a market to indicate where the car currently is or in car video?

Sounds too hard to do the GPS-style tracker. Maybe popups *occasionally* identifying important corners or ones with cool names.

(It'd be interesting to see Buz's 3rd lap incident from the in car as well.)

Sorry I didn't see this comment on my first read-through. If you want cockpit view from me, just let me know.

Super easy to do, which would also give me a chance to put in qualifying times.  Problem is though that it extends the amount of time those will be on screen, probably to the detriment of in game action screen time.  Hopefully it wouldn't add more than 10 additional seconds or so.

Yeah, I'll do something like I did for the "ChITty scares Kalian off track comment", but classier, in the the track overview and display the names of the corners as the car drives by them.

No sweat.  The music that plays for the track overview is rendered by the software, so all I have to do is choose a different theme and variation of that theme to get new music.  Very cool feature.

http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/cinescore/themes

Two themes came with the vegas studio package I got.
The Monaco Diamond - if you listen to the 60 second sample you'll hear something very similiar to what I generated for the in game race classification.
Blizzard of Sparks - a variation of this is what  I'm using for the track overview.

There are a bunch of additional themes available as well.

I purchased the gameday one as an additional option and found some variations that will work as the new grid music.

I can always get the nose camera.  It would be nice to see if you were steering into the poor guy though Tongue  Wink

As an additional note, after talking with Kal, I'm going to do a halfway in race order classification board, but during pitstops or other action I'm going to include a lower third race order update of just the human racers with position, gap, pitstops, pos  gained/lost.

For a single screen like quali, I'd hope it'd be more like 5sec. long enough to hit pause if you really need to look at it closely, but short enough that it doesn feel like it's taking forever to get to the good stuff.

Lol, i keep changing my mind each time i watch it. On one hand, I a Coulthard to his Wurz. But then again, I was fairly alongside too. IDK. Racing incident I guess. If I can get around to it, I'll post the in-cockpit view tomorrow evening.

Just watched it again ... was kind of a late move and I understeered into him. My fault. 10 spot penalty.
