I'm not aware of any other apps.

when doing the caps you may want to drop your game's res to what you want the end video's to be ... eg, 1280x720 ... that ought to help I would think.

Also since it uses HDD a lot, have plenty of free space and be defragged.

I was using Fraps when I was doing some.  I definitely had some situations where the captured frame rate dropped to an unacceptable level.

The settings I used for my Okayama vid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkcLPpGDB1Y)

50 fps, record at full-size, I recorded at my regular resolution, but I might try out Buz's idea of changing the res, would probably help with responsiveness.

Ya, something is up with this machine.
I saw your video, looks good, I started mine a few days ago but got side tracked fighting with the video quality, then decided to wait for the 4G of memory
I ordered, 8G didn't make much of difference. I like the res idea, I'll try that but I never had to do the before, I don't know.

Catalyst wasn't installing the PCI driver, windows was keeping the standard microsoft PCI driver instead, I forced it to take the AMD filter diver and the system is running much better.
