surgeons at the Santa Corona Hospital in Pietra Ligure are battling to save the Pole's right hand following his accident in the Ronde di Andorra Rally earlier today ...  incurred multiple fractures to his right leg, arm and hand.

It is understood that earlier talk of amputation was premature however, there is serious concern as to the functionality in the driver's hand.

He was also able to move his fingers, which is encouraging for the rest of his recovery process ... Meanwhile, the doctors will decide how they will treat his elbow and shoulder fractures. Robert may have to undergo surgery once again for this, but not for a few days.

Onboard from the next car back from Kubica ... not a lot to see but it's nice that the guys stop and get out to help.

WOW!

You can see the piece of barrier sticking out of from the front of the car.

I really hate this!  Kubica is one of my very favorite drivers.  Lucky to be alive it seems.

This is so sad, I have a feeling that things are much worse than are being told. The guard rail came thru the drivers side floor board, broke off a piece of the seat and exited the rear of the car, see frame 3:34 in the video. Truily amazing that he is even alive, but I worry about ligament and muscle in his leg and arm.

SUCKS!

I guess Hulkenberg would be the obvious choice for his ride?

I would have thought Senna was the no brainer, given that they just made the announcement that he was their 3rd driver, for this very purpose.

But I guess that means nothing in F1 these days. I like Christian Klein or Nick Heidfeld personally. Both are very determined racers, The Hulk, meh, he's like Massa, can win if he's leading to begin with but haven't really seen much in the way of overtaking from him.

Hulkenberg dosen't have any $$$$$.  I think he should have a ride this year.

It's all really a shame, but F1 being technology driven and "major" manufacturers having so much $$$ on the line, makes it the beast that it is.

The longer Kubica takes to fully recover, will greatly influence his chances of ever getting another F1 ride.  All because of the $$$$ riding on his arm, that everyone now knows may be damaged.

Liuzzi.......WTF?

I know if I was Helmet Marko I'd be pushing Dan Ricciardo at them, hard.

Ya, but because of Putin's money(or is it russia's money?) we get to watch Petrov destroy cars for at least another year, so there will be some entertainment value, too bad they can't paint the car red with a hammer and cycle, not much of a return if you ask me, lol
