Since I had the time to think about damage as I spent evening trailing the field I was wondering why we have it?

It's my opinion that hitting a wall, or spending time in the grass or sand is probably punishment enough for someone who goes off, or worse yet, gets put off the track in an inappropriate manner.  Any AI can do something retarded, Oulton as a great example, potentially ending anyone's night.

I think we've all been bitten by this issue throughout the season, or had some close calls, so I think we can all relate to how much it sucks to basically have your race ended by what sometimes feels like a fluke.  Also, being that are only 5 people actively participating currently, having 1 person drop out of the race means there's approx 20% less racing activity once someone has an issue.

Thoughts?

Have to admit, my race at Mont Tremblant was pretty damned lonely. And Bret spent some time just watching instead of racing at le Mas du Clos.

As current series leader I'm not sure I should have a vote. For informational purposes, I'm cool with it. But I will go with the flow.

I actually kinda like the damage.  Its adds major consequences to the championship.  It also seems like it keeps us from always having a  1-5 finish every round.  Mixes it up a bit.

However, we only have 5 racers @ this time....  and a good point is also made, in the fact that going off enough to break the car, is punishment enough.

I don't have a problem taking damage away, but I think it should not happen until next season, we only have 2 rounds left.
