Apparently I'm getting a sort of "netsplit" type problem specifically with Buz's location. Times and such are running fine, but all cars are freezing and disappearing on my client, and I am disappearing on the server. Heat isn't a problem, neither is the Race client itself, as I can run for an hour or more on both public servers and Chitty's hosting. I'm looking into possible fixes, possibly a switch of ISP's or running across a proxy. This was the third and fourth times this has happened specifically with a connection to Buz's server, so there may be a routing issue from here.

Until I find a fix or resolution to this, I'm not going to compete in the racing leagues. All cars become invisible to me but some are still solid, and I apparently become invisible but still solid on the server, so I'm not willing to possibly fuck up someone's race. I'm also not willing to put another hole in my wall, so consider me out of the competition until further notice. I will be competing in TotW and practice sessions for fun though.

I'll chip in for a hosted server solution if it's a possibility.

Nope. Gonna fix this on my own. It's not worth the money or trouble for a hosted if I'm the only problem. Just give me a few days to research it.

update all drivers
disconnect router and use just modem
reinstall the game

i have another physical machine i could use for running the server...

i will reboot my router.

what are a dedicated host machine/internet requirements?

I have a core2duo 2.1 ghz with a gig of ram (thinking of upping it to 2 gigs) that I have available.

I have 0.7 Mb/s up.

Drivers are at latest stable build.
Operating in my DMZ for gaming.

NVidia card. running a gaming laptop connected to external monitor/key/mouse/wheel, that's how I know it's not a heat issue, I have the laptop sitting on it's side, all fans going well, nothing so far recorded over the normal load temp.

I'd like to experiment a bit, so I'm going to log onto a public non dedicated box this weekend and leave it in game for a few hours and just sit on the track to see if I can replicate without Buz's server, try to rule that out.

I've got a server set up on my machine with the same settings that Buz had, so we'll have to try that with a decent amount of people to see if it's a viable alternative.

Not sure if it was changing machines for the server or reverting to DSFM=0 that did the trick but Kal had no further probs in the last race, as I recall...
