OK after finding many new tools to handle minimizing  the game and only getting sporadic results...

I dove into getting the native way to minimize the game...

By first forcing the game into a window, not full screen by hitting Alt + Enter ( This only sometimes worked...  Till I found the magic setting you needed.

seta com_useFastVidRestart "1"

Once you have that setting and you hit Alt + Enter you now will be able to switch to any window you want using Alt + Tab.

My Autoexec.cfg file now is:

    seta com_showfps "1"
    seta com_allowConsole "1"
    seta r_useSMP "1"
    seta com_unlockFPS "1"
    seta com_unlock_maxFPS "0"
    seta com_unlock_timingmethod "0"
    seta com_useFastVidRestart "1"

The reason you want to use seta and not set is because the "a" tells the game to "add" the setting to the game config file to be run on next restart.

I put the settings in my Autoexec.cfg file so I'm sure the commands will be executed next time I run the game in case something overwrote them.

If you do not have an Autoexec.cfg file in your /base dir just create one.

place it in your \Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\id Software\Enemy Territory - QUAKE Wars\sdnet\profilename\base directory in XP, or \Users\User\Documents\id Software\Enemy Territory - QUAKE Wars Demo\sdnet\profilename\base in Vista.

Then drop in the commands that you have found to help you.  If you use mine as a start, Do NOT use the SMP line if you don't have a multi core CPU installed in your system.  That line tells the game to use Symmetrical Multi Processing "SMP".

Any questions just ask away.
