here's the setup I used to get the 50.9sec. It's still a work in progress and may not suit everybody's style but it's an option if you want to try it...

good grief, why can't people just drive on the fricking road where they're obviously supposed to? Would solve a lot of headaches.

so explain to me the difference between jumping in the air with all four wheel off the ground an cutting the chicane (with two wheels on the track)

yeah like your car getting airborne and still continuing to race in F1 would really happen....

anyways no big deal...i redid the lap and still beat everyones time...so no headache

49.963, maybe no good

http://rapidshare.com/files/241721400/Magny-Cours_National49-963.Vcr.html

50.264, typo on the file name

http://rapidshare.com/files/241721401/Magny-Cours_National_50-642.Vcr.html

I expect those times to be beaten, so get to work!

NICE BRET!

Also, do I have to put in a time, as I don't have much a chance to chase the perfect lap this week? Or can I just use whatever time I got on the few runs the other night?

so explain to me the difference between jumping in the air with all four wheel off the ground an cutting the chicane (with two wheels on the track)

... F1 cars DO get air on occasion and continue to drive (eg, final chicane @ Montreal, or GP's held at the Nordschleife back in the day)
 ... THIS is not F1
... Two wheels on the road is not a cut
... We count the track boundaries in the horizontal, but not the vertical. There are very few situations where one has an opportunity to get airborne and when they do arise it generally will be something that affects everyone relatively equally. Corner cutting is something that is almost infinitely more possible and does NOT tend to affect everyone equally...hence the cutting definition, an attempt to make it clear what is considered equal.

In order to get a participation point, folks need to declare a time in this thread. The whole week is a free practice session, not fussy about whether it was from Wed, Sat, or whatever..just post a time, whatever time you got.

Ideally with a VCR file either attached, downloadable or emailed to myself or Chitty for verification.

c'mon - let's see some times guys ... you only have until 3am (eastern, midnight pacific) to post your time in this thread.

this is the easiest point you'll earn all season!

I'll keep this track running on the server throughout the day today and after the Sepang race tonight...although we will accept times from single-player sessions too.
