A co-worker of mine is looking to get a video card with HDMI output for his TV. Hes looking to just use it to stream movies & what not. NO Gaming.

Any suggestions?

Quick search & I saw this one

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125325

Like I said.. hes not gaming with it. Just something to stream movies with.

That would be fine, but for an HTPC setup, might want a fanless/passive model.

Also may want to consider an ATI 5xxx card in case he wants to bitstream uncompressed/HD Audio from bluray.

Didnt really think to ask. But I would guess either a Duo-Core or possibly even a P4. He said its 3-5 years old. But it was a higher end when he bought it. So I would tend to wanna say its a duo core Intel.

The reason I ask is because my Pentium D 2.8, 3gb ram, 9600gt couldn't handle decoding anything over 720p with the .mkv.

A fair point ... just my opinion, buy a card with refund ability, then try it and see.

if it is C2D, should be NP though.
