Warchild's CGI Experience
The Championship Gaming Invitational kicked off this weekend for Warchild, who brought 8 solid players to compete against Code7, 20ID, and HOT for $50,000 and a chance at DirectTV fame. On Friday, Warchild had to play the World Tournament champions, Code7, for the first round of the tournament on Dragon Valley. Immediately, Code7 had Warchild in the bleed and Kazanski knew Warchild was in big trouble after round 1 (65-0 Code7 win).
The crowd, the shoutcasters, and everyone else watching the match, expected an easy round 2 win for Code7, and an early exit for Warchild. Arronwolf quickly gathered Warchild at halftime and put together an unbeatable rush that paralyzed Code7 within the first minutes of round 2. Warchild executed thier strategy close to perfect. Jerunk (US Chopper) scored kills on Code7.Redux (Chinese chopper) and the Chinese APC, and Tank. He continued to belittle Code7 as Warchild moved into the Chinese main, stealing, killing, and working perfectly as a unit. After the smoke cleared, Warchild was victorious (68-0) and moved on to the finals of the CGI tourney due to tickets. The crowd and shoutcasters were stunned, and Code7 was ousted from the tournament quicker than they arrived.
The finals round proved to be a classic matchup between 20id and Warchild and Dalian Plant. After losing the coin toss, Warchild had to play on US side for the first round. Warchild quickly took control of the one chopper on the map and grabbed two flags plus their main, forcing 20id to bleed. Warchild was all over 20id in their main when the CGI directors called the round not live. The players on Warchild were at a loss for words after thier beautiful start to the match was erased due to technicalities. When the round restarted, Warchild had a descent start, but was not able to trap 20id in their main. Warchild won the first round 51-0. The 2nd round, Warchild had to play on the tougher Chinese side, and immediately were backed into their base. Infantry battles and armor battles took place all over Warchild's main but they were unable to break out to take a base or keep their own main. 20id took the victory 77-0, and took home the $40,000 prize.
Overall, Warchild had an awesome CGI experience, bringing back with them a $10,000 check and a lot of good memories. Thank you to CGI, DirectTV, Mountain Dew, and the many other sponsors that help put together the tournament.
Warchild Lineup: Kazanski, Arronwolf, Jerunk, Elitedrunk, Nihilist, Malakai, Willyweed, Dep.

After a 4 1/2 hour delay, the DirecTV Championship Gaming Invitational Grand Finals between two of America's finest Battlefield 2 teams, 20ID and Warchild, at last started. However, Warchild got the crucial initial push and held 20ID for the first round, winning 51-0. As half-time commenced, it looked as though 20ID was out, and would lose to Warchild as everything was in their favor. 20ID prevailed, by capitalizing on an initial rush to both East and West flags, confusing Warchild. Pulling most of the 20ID troops from the East flag (which is a very risky move) allowed Team Warchild to move onto East to try to get a Helicopter, which is just what 20ID wanted. Capitalizing on the low reinforcements at the Chinese main flag 20ID moved in for the cap out, winning the DirecTV Championship Gaming Invitational $40,000 grand prize with a final score of 77-0. More DirecTV Championship Gaming Series events are to come with 2 additional events in 2006 and various throughout in 2007. On behalf of 20ID we thank you, the 20ID fans, who all attended the CGI to help cheer 20ID's road to the championship title, and especially during the opening match against the premier Team HOT, where you showcased your vocal support for 20ID throughout the match.
