Hey guys need help possible virus!!

I have a buddy who possibly has a virus on his mb or harddrive...he tries to boot into windows safemode it starts then restart his pc automatically..then he tries to go to last restore point...it starts then cold boots off....he can;t boot into windows at all any ideas? is there a way to run an antivirus on the boot sector?  and within dos???

Why is he booting into safe mode to start with? What was the original symptom?


But yh, if concerned about a virus, boot the PC off a different hard drive and connect the 'bad' one as a secondary (doesn't have to be a usb connection, just open the case and drag out the wires temporarily), then scan that way.
